A lot of members are having some difficulty in navigating & understanding the site's functionality. We keep getting messages & indications of that through several posts. So, here's an attempt to make things a little bit easier. If you click on the attachment to this post, an image of the top panel (above the boards) will open up. There are numbers given besides, each element, and here's a brief look into what some of them are for / can do.

1.  Is the red logo of The Diabetic Forum Online. Clicking on that will take you to the Diabetic Pub home page, no matter where you are. The Diabetic Pub has since changed to The Diabetes Forum Online. The logo has now changed

2.  At the very top is the User Section with drop down links to Your Profile, Messages and Alerts if you have selected any.

3.  Is the toggle Collapse button for the Categories.

4.  Are links to Unread Posts and Updated Topics since your last visit.

5. Is the Main Menu of the forum.

6.  Is the scrolling New bar

7.  Is the Link Tree or the Forum. It will indicate your present location within the forum. All of the links in the tree are clickable and will take you direct to that page.

8.  Is the Search input box. Dependent on what page you are. drop down choices will be available to further refine your Search. A more Comprehensive Search button is also located within your Main Menu.

We shall continue to post further Site Navigation tips within the next couple of days. If you have any queries / questions on this one, do let us know.

Very good idea . . . but can you make the corresponding numbers more noticeable, like a red arrow pointing to them or circle drawn around them? I didn't tumble to it right away, but then I just got outta bed too & haven't had my caffeine kickstart . . .  :o

I wonder if people are just so accustomed to vBulletin format, they aren't picking up on this.

skb

Thanks, Shanny. It's done. Put red circles around the numbers so people cannot miss them. I should have thought about that.

Thanks SKB, most of this should probably be fairly obvious but for dummies like me it helps to have an explanation and a picture really is worth a thousand words.  Good job and it's appreciated.

Thank you for the guided tour. I should say that I am one of the first time member of any internet community and this helps a lot. Look forward to further addition to the Site navigator.

The Control + Scroll tip from the FAQ was very helpful also. I have difficulty in reading the small size of the posts.

Oops. Sorry about that. Actually the forum s/w auto-deletes attachments after a few days. We'll look into that and reinstate the attachments.

Edit : Image attached. All Site Navigation threads are updated.

Thank you so much. That makes things a lot easier. This is very helpful.

Thanks to Vahit, I've got a refresher course in Site Navigation. Didn't know about the Collapse buttons and never tried them. Though I'm pretty good with a PC, I always learn something new everyday. Thanks.  ;D

This is all very new for me but I will try to work very hard at it.

Have a nice day.

Though I've got the hang of things, I don't see any images either.

skb

Sorry rosyblue,

It was a "Permissions" issue. The attachment images are very much there, but could not be seen by some groups. I've changed that & now you should be able to see them.
