This says it all.
QuoteThe often embraced 'cheat day' is a common theme in many diets and the popular ketogenic diet is no exception. But new research from UBC's Okanagan campus says that just one 75-gram dose of glucose—the equivalent a large bottle of soda or a plate of fries—while on a high fat, low carbohydrate diet can lead to damaged blood vessels.

I have never believed that a "cheat day" was a good practice.  Maybe it is not such a problem if someone is just trying to lose weight but to control your blood sugar it makes no sense to me to have a day when you let it go.
Type 2 since 1993.  Control with LCHF diet.

For type 1 or type 2 on insulin, the study is flawed.  We have no choice when there is a blood sugar low but to take some form of glucose to resolve said low.  And Yes, that glucose does have its effects on the LCHF diet.

Yeah, cheat days just don't work for diabetics. As Wally said, if you are doing it for weight loss yeah, go for it once in a while if you feel the need. But not for controlling bg.

Agreed. I don't think they mean insulin users at all.
