Hi everyone! I hope to learn a few things cause my GF is a type 2. This also runs in my family and my mother and grandmother both died from complications from it. My GF is a "pathetic diabetic" as we call them cause she constantly falls off the wagon. I hope I didn't offend anyone by that. LOL

Me, I build my own computers, help MANY people across the net with their forums and blogs, as well as being pretty good in the kitchen. I've been surfing the net for almost 30 years, test tons of software and play video games. LOL I'm also a former musician (bass) and DJ.

Hi,

Welcome to The Diabetic Pub. It's my bedtime, but others from across the globe will be here soon and chime along. Giving us some more information about your GF, specifically her numbers, A1c levels, medication if any and information about her diet & exercise would help us a lot. Better still would be if she could also join us.

Like I said, we could help each other along the way.

Welcome aboard, Skhilled . . . I'm located in the Ozarks of south-central Missouri.

I guess I'm prob'ly a pathetic diabetic too . . . I don't have very good control. Maybe together your GF & I can get our ducks in a row & make better lives for ourselves.

Every now & then, we all qualify as one. But being here helps. We push each other to get back on the wagon, enjoy the ride, and hopefully be better.

You are in good company. Tamagno is also an accomplished musician and retired as a music teacher. Most of us have migrated from other Diabetes forums & have known each other for a few years. We built ourselves this place to be rid of industry sponsored information and advertising.

Hi and welcome to the Pub.   ~wcm~
I have been a T-2 for 24 years and through the people on forums I have learned to control my diabetes with my diet and was able to stop using drugs, except Metformin which I still take.  It helps to give us as much information as you are comfortable with but by all means ask questions.  people here are glad to be as helpful as they can.
I also like to build my own computers for myself.  I am not an expert by any means but I have managed to do OK.

Welcome skhilled,

You'v come to the right place for information on Diabetes.
I found this forum quite by accident last year, and what a transformation it has been for me. I've lost all my excess weight, numbers are below 100 most of the time and A1c is 5.1

Ask away what you like, someone will surely have the answers and if we have any computer related questions we can bank on you.
My life is based on a true story.

Thanks, for the warm welcomes everyone. I've sent her the link when I first registered here but she hasn't looked at it yet. I'll keep bugging her until she does.

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and take mads for that. So, I know the importance of a proper diet and knowing your numbers.

Hey, skb. :) I have no idea what her numbers are, etc. but do know she is Type 2, on insulin and some medication. After she registers she can fill you in. And thanks for letting me join.

Sure! I'll be glad to help any way I can. I don't consider myself an expert but do well. I'm not a coder, per se, but can fix some minor coding issues or know someone who can.

Welcome to the forum Skhilled!  We are happy you have joined us and I hope your GF will join too. She is the one that will have to do the work, no amount of pressure will make her unless she wants to. So try not to pressure her too much.

Welcome!

Hi bigskygal. Yeah, I know. It's like talking to a brick wall at times so I gave up. LOL

Hello, sorry I haven't been around but have been VERY busy with work and have taken over the web hosting (https://buildzhosting.com) and now own it myself. I also have taken over Crip Zone Themes (Jeff-Crip was a friend and I am hosting it) and am upgrading all of the themes to work with the Final SMF 2.1 version. So far, we have 3 themes updated. We are not updating a lot at this point cause the code will probably change a lot until SMF finalizes it. Look in the "SMF 2.1 RC2" for the themes. `8)

If you'd like to see a theme there updated to work with SMF 2.1 let me know and we will work on that one next in line.

I hope all is well with everyone else. :)

skb

Welcome back Steve,

Nice to have you back. I've read a lot about Crip and his themes over at TP. Maybe we can have a look at some of his themes once we settle down with 2.1 Final. Hosting is another thing that we could look at once our package with our current host is complete.

Great to have you back. Hopefully you'll post a few recipes as well.
