Hello.  I just signed up for this forum and plan to spend hours reading the posts.

I've been type two for thirty years.  Oral pill for twenty-seven years until moving into this medical group home. Insulin until two weeks ago when blood sugar was forty-four. The food is unhealthy and I am moving out soon.

I'm female, and thank you for this forum.

I am a type 2 diagnosed 13 years ago. Most of the regularly posting members here are all veterans at the game. I manage my diabetes with food control and no medication. If you read through the older posts, hopefully you will too, soon enough. A good place to start with would be the "My Story" thread in the Forum Links in the Right side Panel. And of course, our Home Page has a wealth of information as well.

Hi  Pinkipad, welcome to the forum.  Hope you can find some helpful information here and don't hesitate to ask questions.  People here have been dealing with diabetes for several years and are more than happy to offer any advice they may have to help.
Like you found food from any institution is not very helpful.  I was in a SNF for rehab after breaking my hip a couple of years ago and I just refused to eat anything that was high in carbs and after talking to the dietitian I was actually able to get them to change my meals to low carb.  Probably not going to happen in a lot of places but I was really happy and I guess it does pay to try to insist on change.
Type 2 since 1993.  Control with LCHF diet.
