Remember, I had posted pictures of a leopard charging at me. This was from a camp near Junnar about 175 kms away from Mumbai. Today I want to share some other things about an old temple close by.

About 15 kms to the North West of Junnar town is an old pre-historic temple known as Kukdeshwar. It lies in a thickly forested patch and all my efforts at trying to determine the dates of its creation have failed so far. Other caves and temples close by have been dated to around 1 BC - 3 AD, but this one is much older than that.

The temple was destroyed either by a natural disaster like an earthquake or Muslim invaders who are famous for having done that all across western and northern India. The locals re-assembled the temple stone by stone, but not being technically sound, they put the stones back all in the wrong order and places. Even my enquiries as to the time/date of the re-assembly have drawn a blank. I have lots of pictures of this temple, but here's one with my camping group.

Outside the temple there are lots of idols and artefacts strewn about. I found this one the most intriguing. What do you think this is? My own theory is that it is a sculpture of a space traveler. What do you think ?

On a side note, has anyone read Erik Von Daniken ?

It impresses me to think that structures such as the temple you saw were constructed so many years ago in such a remote place.  I guess I think of temples being located where lots of people live so they can worship at their convenience.

Very interesting structure! Yes, that does look like a space traveler! I have read Erik Von Daniken "Chariots of The Gods?" many, many years ago. Who can say that Earth wasn't visited many, many, many years ago?? The Nazca Lines in Peru are another unusual site.

I have read all of his books and am a big fan. I completely subscribe to his theories. I even watch him on his YouTube Channel. Most of his talks are in German but some are in English.
