Here's a study on nutrient composition of several diets and its effect on management of blood sugar. Of the various ratios studies, they found the best results from a ratio of 20% carbs, 30% proteins & 50% fats. It would have been wonderful had they upped the fats & decreased the proteins even further.

Very interesting article.  It is going to take me a bit to get all the way through it.  I am still struggling a bit with the high fat part of this way of eating, maybe this will help with that.

"A 30:20:50 ratio diet resulted in a 38% decrease in 24-hour glucose area, a reduction in fasting glucose to near normal and a decrease in %tGHb from 9.8% to 7.6%. The response to a 30:30:40 ratio diet was similar."

It's nice to see that this way of eating in relation to controlling diabetes is getting more attention.  My daily meter testings and my 90-day lab results confirm that it really does make a tremendous difference.

Yup. And it would have been so much better had they stretched the scope of their study & went beyond 50 % fats. Who knows that 38% reduction might have been 60 %

My personal ratios are 80% fat/ 15% protein/5% carbs.  It varies a bit day by day but that keeps me in ketosis and my numbers in line to continue being in the 4% A1c club.

I also maintain a 5% carb/ 80% fat and 15% protein ratio and am usually quite close to that and I am always in ketosis.  My goal was not ketosis, but to control my blood sugar and ketosis was the result which a plus I think.  Other people may do just fine with different ratios so we have to find out what is the best for me and stick to that.
