Hi,

I'm new here. I found the forum while looking for information on the internet.

I'm in my 50s and I'm prediabetic. I need information to try to bring my blood sugar down.

I'm trying to learn as much as possible.

Thank you for reading.

Once upon a time, I too was searching the internet for ways and means to control my blood glucose and I found a forum just like this one. The members there led me on to a path which really helped, and since then we've hopefully helped 1000s across the globe if not more, do the same.

However, we believe that there is no such thing as "pre-diabetes". Either you are diabetic or not. In my words you are "metabolically challenged". I also believe very strongly, the words of the wise man Hippocrates - "Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food." written 2500 years ago.

Hopefully, you will also learn the tricks of the trade and benefit from the vast knowledge of our members. Do give us some more information, like why do you think that you are prediabetic and what are your current numbers. And the rest will follow.

Welcome, once again.

Welcome Lana, glad you came here and I hope you can get a benefit from our group.  I have been a T2 diabetic since 1993 and for years followed doctor's advice to try and control my blood sugar with sometimes not a very good result.  The thing all of us have learned is that what we eat has all to do with our blood sugar.  Medications can only do so much and I found that I could keep my blood sugar in control by controlling what I ate.  When my A1c went over 7 and my doctor had no advice I went to forums like this and found out how to take control over my diabetes.  My last A1c was 5.0 so it works.  Please ask any questions you have and the more information you are willing to share about yourself will help us to offer any advice we may have.

Welcome Lara!

Please tell us more about yourself and what you have been doing to control your diabetes, whatever you feel comfortable sharing. Take some time and read through the older threads and especially the recipes thread to get an idea of what type of foods are helpful for controlling your numbers.

It is a process and takes time but can be very beneficial in the long run. Glad you found us and hope to hear more from you in the future.
