QuoteFree from the sun, vitamin D delivers a natural source for one of the hormones essential to our bodies, especially the bones. But when you're down on this essential nutrient, it's not only your bones that could suffer, but also your cardio health, according to new research from the  University of South Australia.

Article

I follow a Chris Masterjohn who has done some fantastic research on Vit D and what constitutes "normal". According to him the normal numbers (like those given in the Article) are a case of 'shifting goal posts' and not necessarily true.

I take a vitamin D supplement daily on the advice of my doctor.  It is unfortunate that one of the best sources is exposure to the Sun but that is also the main cause of skin cancer.  I guess supplements are the best option.

Same her Wally! I take the supplement as I am fair skinned and have already had several spots removed. I cover up completly when I go outside and take my Vit D orally.

I take a 2000 units pill once every 3-4 days. My levels stay around 20-30 and I think that is good enough.

Yeah SKB, according to what I have looked up that is well within normal range.  I just looked at my last blood test and my level was 54 ng/ml which is considered high. I might need to cut back just a bit on the supplement.  It can be confusing because on the container Vitamin D3 is shown as IU and also mcg for units and blood levels are shown as nmol/l or ng/ml.  I wish they would make up their mind and use one.

I take a liquid drink containing multiple vitamins and also one boost drink for breakfast which also contains vitamins. I see my pcp next week, will have to check my blood work and see where my levels are and adjust as needed.
