Hi everyone. I've been a type 2 diabetic since 2017. Had diabetic related cataracts in 2020. Doctor still can't get my A1c under 7. She started me on Ozempic this week. She wants me to exercise and diet (I'm tipping the scales at 320 now) but I have a fused lower spine and nerve damaged legs and feet. So, walking any distance is painful at best, which makes it hard to lose weight.

That's my hard luck story. Thought I'd find a forum like this to see if anyone else has a similar situation and see how they overcame it.

Looking forward to talking with you all!

Rick

Hi Rick,
 ~wcm~
In the days of dwindling forum subscriptions it is heartening to welcome you here. There are some areas of your post that I'd like to comment on but we'll reserve that for times when you are more comfortable here. For starters I'd recommend you click the Home button or the Logo and go to our landing page and read from some of the articles written by our members over the years. That will give you some insights on things that we have found that work in controlling the Blood Glucose numbers. Start there and let's see where that leads us.

Welcome, once again.

Welcome Rick!

We have all had our challenges with diabetes. I think the thing that changed everything for each of us was adopting a low carb high fat diet. It may seem weird but we have all reaped the rewards of it and they are life giving. Google it and make your choice...

Hi Rick, welcome.  Please feel free to ask any questions you may have that someone here might have an answer to.  We are all dealing with the same problem but we are also all different so what works for me may not work for you but then it just might.  I was diagnosed in 1993 and for several years just followed what my doctors said but there came a time when I decided that what I have been told was not working so I found forums like this and decided to take control of my diabetes myself.  Honestly is came down to what I eat and keeping track of how many carbs I took in at each meal.  That along with testing after each meal to find out how many carbs I could manage and keep my blood sugar in control I was able to get my A1c in the 5% range.
