Covid and LCHF

The question I raised was, has anyone heard of a covid case on LCHF. The question came up because I have been making a lot of videos for my YouTube channel and have been reading up a lot while researching content.

Secondly, covid has been inching closer to home and some of our close relatives got affected. As I write, an aunt and uncle are hospitalised in New Delhi with covid, but they are doing fine. My wife's sister's whole family got infected (now recovered) and were having a hard time with the treatment.

Closer to home, my daughter in law tested positive (they stay seperately) along with her father and mother, after coming back from a funeral service of a relative who died of covid. Her brother and my son who were also there tested negative. D-I-L had the least of symptoms and didn't take any medication. They just quarantined themselves for 15 days.

Personally, I have been out to work everyday since July and interact with at least 20 people per day, 4-5 completely new persons. Masks and distancing are not practically possible all the time and I feel that had I to get it, I would have got it by now. Such is my exposure.

One thing good about anyone following any set diet plan (whether LCHF / Vegetarian / Vegan) is that they stay away from junk/fast food. So eating better definitely helps. I did read an article by Dr. Aseem Malhotra from London (he is a LCHF proponent) that this diet will definitely help with the severity of the conditions if not completely keep you safe from covid.

I also firmly believe that physical activity / exercise is another factor that helps, just because it is an immunity booster. Those who are more active will definitely deal with the virus better than those who are not.

The key system in the body's immunity is the Lymphatic system. All of the leukocytes & lymphocytes (WBC) are present in the lymph. Exercise also stresses/uses the lymphatic system as it does the respiratory and cardio-vascular systems. That is how it helps in fighting illness.

Fats are circulated, first, in the lymph (because of their size) and distributed to cells, before ending up in the blood circulation. Does LCHF because of HF in anyway, give a boost to the lymphatic system and thus immunity. That is the question. Definitive answers, to questions like these, are very hard to find or even assess. I did do a Google search and a study is currently on to find the effectiveness of LCHF to covid patients on ventilators (https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04358835). It will take another year before the results are out. Meanwhile keto enthusiasts are peddling all sorts of theories and products to make a killing while they can.

Not surprised to see everyone jumping on the "our way of eating" will save you from Covid... Sadly, I think we are just too early into this situation to make that kind of claim. Yes, those of us that really look out for our health may fare better in the long run... but who knows at this point what the tipping factor for life or death is?

Interesting post. I want to go for my daily walks but I just cannot with the Covid and masks. My husband would also not permit that. I have a young daughter I have to keep her safe also.
