I have to read it again tomorrow when my brain is fully awake. At first they mention recovery from injury but the primary focus seems to be building back up from inactivity. While similar the two are also sort of different. Will re-read tomorrow.

My doctor took me off Metformin about a year ago because she was concerned about it's effect on my liver.  My liver enzymes have been elevated and although I never heard about Metformin having any problem with the liver I take her advice and actually have not missed it.

With my liver issues, and given what your dr said Wally, I'd never go back to Metformin either! It sounded kind of like a good idea in the beginning of the article, but I guess all factors of one's health have to be taken in account.

Yeah, mostly what I have read has stated that Metformin is quite safe and has other benefits besides helping with diabetes but I have to go along with my doctor and if she is worried about it's effect on the liver I am going along with that.  It has also been over a year and I have not seen any problem with stopping it as far as my bg is concerned.  That doesn't take away from the study which is using it for another usage and if I were in that situation it may very well be an option.
