I guess it's obvious, but yet another risk of high glucose is cancer.

If there's some predisposition to tumor growth, high glucose is liable to exacerbate the problem by providing an excellent energy/food source for the cancer.

Tumors thrive and will likely grow quickly in the presence of excess blood sugar.

I've not seen correlative studies between cancer and diabetes, but I suspect there's a link.

Also have not seen the matter discussed among other complications (aren't there enough?) but have had the idea confirmed by a couple of oncologists.

I know in my case glucose is volatile and often high. I'd had a swallowing test last August that was clear of pathology. By the middle of September, esophageal cancer had set in at stage 3. Pretty quick, it seems to me.

Just for the record, my a1c hovers around 7.2-8.2. Daily highs are rarely over 300, but often in the 250 area. Daily lows rarely go below 70.
