1) For blood testing which is your favorite finger, if any ?
2) Can the thumb be also used for blood drop ?

Thank you,
Have a nice day everyone.

Vahit,

I moved your post here as the "Queries" sub-forum under the "Food & Nutrition" category is devoted for queries regarding food items only. All other stuff can be placed in Lounge if no appropriate sub-forum exists.

To answer your question, I don't use the thumbs, though there is no rule which says you can't. All the other 4 fingers are equally good. Use the one which gives you the least amount of pain or inconvenience.

I use all of the fingers, no favorites.  Testing as often as I do it is necessary to spread the finger poking around.  I am right handed so I use the fingers on my left hand.  I can use the right hand but it is awkward for me.  And yes, the thumb is just another finger.

Timewise

I test 3-5 times daily depending on how my BS is doing.  unless of course I am testing a new food item to see if my body can handle it...

For some reason I only use 3 fingers on my left hand.  I cannot explain why, but that is the way I have always done it.  My pointing finger, first digit...the one next to it, the longest finger or second digit and then my little finger...that is all I have used in over 12 years.   I get good blood almost always and use the lowest depth setting on my lance holder... 'finger sticking machine'.

I use the thumb on my left hand and I call it my 'numb thumb' because it was badly cut nearly 40 years ago & required nine sutures to close. It has remained numb ever since, so however many times it gets poked, it never hurts, and the pokes heal very quickly. Even if I poke directly through the scar, I always get good blood & a nice big bead of it, since I can use a deeper setting on my lancer without causing pain.

I usually  use the ring and baby finger of my right hand.  But any finger is fine.  When I am testing a new food I will use more fingers, but I don't really use my thumbs.

I use all ten digits and both sides of each.  This gives me 20 places to use and I use them on a rotating basis and occasionally use the area of the soul of the finger for six of my fingers.  Because I need to test often and take insulin, I like to rotate and allow my fingers to heal.  Many of the support group members using insulin use as many fingers and both sides as we can.  A few members use alternate spots on their palms for their fasting readings.

I don't have any favorites either. Any finger is good on the day. If you have pain or trouble  with any one finger, you can avoid using that one.
