I like the Blog of Kelley Pounds "The Low Carb RN" and I thought some may find this post interesting.  Especially anyone whose doctor has stated that they no longer are diabetic !

My biggest meal of the day is usually not breakfast but it is almost always carb free.  I recently bought a gadget to cook bacon in the microwave, which works great.  So I often have 2-3 pieces of bacon plus an egg, which fills me up to lunchtime (and often beyond). 

But more to the point of the article, is that I too have found that most of the dietary "guidelines" for people with diabetes would make my BG numbers worse, not better.  I am sooooo grateful that I did my online research shortly after my diagnosis and found the prior diabetes website (from which this one came to be).  Low carb, high fat works.

I am playing catch up tonight.  but I do fall into that category of ones whose doctors declared her cured. I really want to read this when I am not so tired.

I read the article and found that I'm not the only one who has their blood sugar number creep upward because of stress.  I can watch on my CGM what my blood sugar is when I enter the Doctor's building and watch as it slowly climbs up, sometimes 100 points worth of "up".

Breakfast is probably my smallest meal simply because I don't feel like eating when I first wake up.  In addition to that I take a thyroid medicine 30-60 minutes before my first meal of the day.

Rhiannon - Are you allowed to tell us about this microwave gadget for cooking bacon?  I detest having to wash a fry pan just for 3 slices of bacon.

Grammabear:  I bought my microwave bacon cooker from Amazon.  It's called Joie Piggy Microwave  Bacon Tray with splatter lid.  Amazon has several similar products.  This one is priced just over $10, so I figured even if I didn't like it, I would not be out much money.  Thankfully, I do like it, very much.  It's very convenient and easy to use, especially for cooking bacon just for myself.
