A new type of Smart Contact Lens capable of monitoring glucose levels from fluid in the eyes have been developed. These have yet to undergo human trials but hold a lot of promise for pain free method of monitoring.

I have heard about using tears as a method of measuring glucose.  Apparently this is only able to turn an LED on if the threshold is passed so it will warn someone if a blood test is needed.  This could be good to signal a too low or maybe too high level but I don't see it replacing a conventional monitor.

And for those of us who have had or will have cataract surgery, adding contact lenses to the equation seems a needless chore. I don't see a great future for this 'smart lens'.

I guess the older I get, the less I am attracted to the idea of yet 'another' chore to do in connection with body maintenance.  I had regular contacts for a good many years and I don't miss them at all.

My sentiments exactly! As long as I'm clean & sweet-smelling, I don't even bother with make-up anymore! I keep thinking I'll make up my face, but I never do.

And I too had regular contacts for many years . . . don't miss them at all!

I tried on contacts years and years ago and could not stand them. I have a really hard time with anything in my eye.

I hear you Shanny, I haven't worn makeup for many, many years. I moisturize and that is the extent of it. I don't care a rat's ass about keeping up with what is the "current makeup trend". I'm closing in on 69 yrs old and don't care about lashes, eyebrows or lips...maybe i'll pull out the long hairs on my chin but that is it...

At my great age, I have so many hairs on my chinny-chin-chin that I just shave.  :D

I'm with you all, vis, contacts are way too much hassle and expense!
