We are a forum devoted to Diabetes, but we do talk of issues relating to general health. Most of us are past our middle age and surely we must have been through some surgery/ies, major or minor. It would be nice to have them on record, for others to consider prior to making responses.

I'll go first.
I've had my tonsils removed when I was a kid and my appendix removed when I was around 35.

I developed a cyst on my thyroid when I was in my 30s, and one lobe of the gland was removed. It's the only surgery I've ever had.

Oh my do I really want to go there???

Had my tonsils out at about age 5.
Hysterectomy in 1995.
Spinal fusion in 1999.
Deviated septum corrected 2005.
Double mastectomy 2013.

May have forgotten something...these are the highlights.

hello,

Appendix when I was 14
tonsils when i was 30
and Hysterectomy at the age of 46,  , I totally regret it. Also I want to add that I had a lump in my right breast ,10 years ago, had a mammogram done , then  with LCHF lifestyle , now almost 4 years , the lump has disappeared, but have not bothered to redo my mammogram. 8)

Just one abortion, if it count's as a surgery.

Not much for me, mostly I'd say just procedures:

- tonsillectomy, age 23
- large hematoma drained at left quadricep (hit-and run driver), age 35
- prostate (TURP), age 64
- cataracts in both eyes (very good procedure that I recommend), age 65

Actually, I guess all but the cataracts involved some notable pain.

It's interesting that surgeons never seem to quite prepare one for the post-op pain. Nevertheless, a moment's reflection is sufficient reminder that any such intrusion is painful.

Timewise

Tonsillectomy, age 5

Vasectomy at age 28 (After third child was born)

Bone spur taken of foot age 48

Cataracts' taken out of both eyes with corrective lens placed in both eyes (age 53 for one, and 55 for the other)...now have 20/18 vision without glasses...YAHOO!

So far they have only taken things out (except maybe my eyes), nothing new added yet!?
