Hello All,

Here is another issue that I need to consult with you.
When logging in the login screen has a default time of session set as 1 hour. There are options in the pull down menu as shown in the image, but I always forget to select one of those and get logged out of the forum after 1 hour. Many a times I have lost content of a lengthy reply because my session has timed out and the Forum wants me to login again.

Questions;

1. How do you login? Do you use the drop down options or is 1 hour enough for you.

2. If I wanted to change this to Always stay logged in as the default, would that be OK with you?

No. 2 requires a lot of code changes in some of the core files, but I could pull it off. Before I attempt that, I want to know what are your thoughts on this.

I use the drop down menu at the top of the page however on my pc I don't have the option of choosing how long I want to stay logged in.  I'm not sure why, but suspect it might be one of several "add-ons" that Mozilla has put on Firefox and I should probably review those.  I have lost a lengthy reply a time or two, but I figured it was because I took too long to type.  Sometimes I want an extra cup of coffee while logged into the forum, and hence I might get distracted from continuing to type my reply.  Whatever you feel is appropriate is ok with me.

I used the drop down and selected always stay logged in.  I prefer that but I don't see it as a hard thing to do.  It wouldn't bother me if it was the default but some may want the option to choose differently.

I used the drop down too to always stay logged in.

It might have something to do with "disabled pop-up windows".

Last night I made all the code changes to the (7) files. After making the changes, I started to get 100s of errors on the forum, so I reverted back to the old files. Will need some more tinkering I guess.

Sweety

Never used that window. I just login. So I think that I am in for an hour or less. I have never faced any problem with that.

I changed the login template. Now the drop down window with the options does not appear. The default has been set to "Always Stay Logged In".

If this is OK with everyone, we stay with these changes. If not, we can revert to the Options.

Improved it further. Now there is the drop down list back again, but the default is "Always Stay Logged In". So if any one wishes to choose a shorter duration, that can be done as well.

skb,

If you don't mind, can you share the code changes with me. PM or email me pls.

We're still in RC. Every time a new version comes up all of the changes will need to be made again. I suggest wait till the Final Release.

I have no issues sharing the code changes with you. I suggest  go through this;
