Hi,
Jerri here. T2D since 2009 on metformin. In good control me thinks.
Got the link from SMF to the forum. Thought I'd drop in for a peek.
Have tried the low carb thingy for a bit. Not much into it though. My endo will not endorse it.

Welcome Jerri!

Yeah, I hear you on the dr not endorsing LC/HF. Mine didn't either at first. I did all my research and decided to give it a really serious try. And guess what? It really does work if you keep it up. When I was diagnosed  in Feb of 2012, my bg was 243 and my A1c was 9.5%. Four months on a very strict LC/HF and my bg was in normal range actually lower and my A1c was 5.7%. Oh and I lost 50#! My dr was surprised it worked, now unfortunately he considers me cured... not cured, I'm controlled.

T-2 dx 2/2012 FBG 243 A1c 9.5%  A1c 6/12  5.7%  A1c 4% 7/13 to 12/16

Good Morning Jerri,

Welcome and I hope you will find helpful encouragement here.  I am Type 1 since 2003 and I follow a modified version of LCHF.  It has helped me a great deal with having better control of my blood glucose levels.  Eating low or lower carb isn't harmful in my opinion.  It is hard in today's western world to make changes, so my advice would be to make changes one at a time if you want to improve your way of eating.

Yeah, I did LC not HF for awhile, but my numbers didn't budge as expected. And then I got a real dressing down from my endo. That scared the sh&* outta me. Bet hey, maybe I can give it another shot.

That's something to keep in mind. Maybe I will go the baby steps way.

Thanks everyone.

Welcome Jerri,

Just like you, I also eat better carbs, not high fat, but then doctor has put me in pre-diabetic category. I can manage with that I think.
