This is a blog by Christopher Clark, but says a lot about the doctor and her stand against the American Heart Association = http://www.christopherjamesclark.com/blog/womens-heart-health-pioneer-blasts-american-heart-association/

Another point she makes if about the AHA and their healthy heart check which they sell for companies to promote their foods as being heart healthy.

My own doctor has been unstintingly critical of AHA for all the years I've known him which is 20+ and counting. These agencies are nothing but fronts for political chicanery - and that includes ADA and all the others.  >:(

Haven't seen a doctor professionally since 2007, but one of our nephews recently got engaged to a doctor who belongs to a family of doctors. I've met them socially a couple of times. Turns out that a couple of them are diabetics. But they are all the "low fat" docs and therefore I kept my mouth completely & firmly zipped.

It must take some guts to stand against the establishment. My LDL is also high according to my last week's reports (230 if I'm not mistaken). So far, I've been asked to decrease some weight and re-check in 3 months.
Diabetic ?

Sweety

I checked my report. 230 is total cholesterol not Ldl. Sorry.
Diabetic ?

The higher the fat, the lower my LDL is and the higher my HDL is...or, have I reversed that?  In any case the total is a bit higher, but the good is higher and the bad is lower by 1/2 in fact.  I'm too lazy to stop and look, but my doctor thinks it is amazing.

You got it right, Pat, low-carb/HIGH fat raises HDL, lowers triglycerides, and  normally converts LDL to large fluffy benign particles.

skb

That's true. The fastest way to get down the triglycerides is LCHF. It will come down in days not weeks. Raising HDL takes at least 6 months. LCHF will improve your lipids, whichever way you look at them.

And it doesn't take very many days either up or down. Years ago I went off the wagon for four days, and my triglycerides rose 127 points in that very short time.  :-\

Yup. TGs are meal based like BG. Since the excess carbs convert to TGs the response is immediate.

Not due for blood tests for the next few months, but I've bookmarked this page and will watch closely.
