How Breastfeeding helps women

As demonstrated by multiple studies over the years, women who breastfeed have a lower risk for developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes when compared to those who don't or can't. However, the mechanisms by which these risks are reduced for lactating women are still not fully understood.

Interesting. I had toxemia with both of my pregnancies which led to high bp later in life. I don't know anything about pericardial fat in the family or me... my mother had rheumatic fever as a child and developed diabetes in her late 60's mine in mid 60's she had breast cancer, so did I. Don't know if any of it is related...it just seems there are so many factors contributing to diabetes and many other diseases, it is sort of like throwing spaghetti on the wall and see what sticks...

I agree Barbara.  My youngest son was born in 1975 and was breastfed.  I developed major depression 5 years after his birth and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2003.  Go figure.
