QuoteProfessor Batterham (UCL Medicine) said: "The findings of this study represent a major breakthrough for improving the health of people with obesity. Three quarters (75%) of people who received semaglutide 2.4mg lost more than 10% of their body weight and more than one-third lost more than 20%. No other drug has come close to producing this level of weight loss – this really is a game changer. For the first time, people can achieve through drugs what was only possible through weight-loss surgery."

The side effects of this drug are not encouraging in my opinion.

So many of the new "promising" drugs have really bad side effects...I guess it depends on how miserable you are with the symptoms vs the side effects. I am glad I am not in the position to have to make that decision.

I tried one of the new weight loss drugs and never, ever again.  The side effects are greatly under reported.  I literally could not leave my house (if you get my meaning)  :(

Quotein the Phase III trial some participants reported side effects from the drug including mild-to-moderate nausea and diarrhoea that were transient and generally resolved without permanent discontinuation from the study.

They do admit to the side effects. A drug is a drug is a drug. Companies that invest money in their development are naturally eager to launch them ASAP ignoring the side effects and in most cases pushing them under the carpet. Their sole intention is to make money on their investment.
