If you are going to follow Eat To Your Meter (link on top of page) you will need a lot of strips. 300 minimum.

In the beginning as you test everything, you will use a lot of strips but once you have a tested recipe/meal menu you will use less and less strips.  I am 4+ years down the road and basically only test fasting and bedtime. Periodically testing of meals to make sure they are still OK is the norm.  And carefully checking any labels to make sure recipes haven't changed.
