Introduced to us by SilverTiger at another time, another place, this recipe is the most tweak-worthy dish I ever saw, and it is absolutely scrumptious!

This is one of my favorite meals and it is surprisingly kind to my bg.  The other benefit is that everyone likes it a lot, don't have to be low carb to enjoy it.  I make enough for four of us to get two meals so I up the quantities.   ~hgr~

This is one of my favorites too!!  I often change up the protein.  I've made it with shrimp, chicken, ground lamb or pork.  I use sambal oelek chili paste as I like it very spicy!

This is a great recipe and I have it nearly every single week.  This week, I made hamburgers on Monday, and I browned the rest of the ground beef.  So tonight, I just need to chop up half a head of cabbage and some onion, and the rest of the meal will quickly flow together.  I like to top each serving with a dollop of sour cream.  My BG responds very positively to crack slaw.

Kelly

This looks not only yummy but also easy on the budget.  Going to make it this weekend.

Maggie

You all sound so enthused about this. I think I should try it!  :P

Kelly

I made this last night and it really is delish!! Froze some for another couple of meals.  AND had my lowest fasting # ever this morning!!  145!

Shanny,

Can this be done with chicken ?
Diabetic ?

Shanny

Absolutely. As Bigskygal posted above, she has made it with shrimp, chicken, ground lamb and pork. I suspect you could make it without any meat at all and it would still be excellent. It's the best of all worlds - delicious, inexpensive and very easy on blood sugar!

Maggie

If it gives fasting like Kelly got, I guess I really should try this. I need to get something right for once.

Rhiannon

I've made this with ground beef, ground pork, and bacon.  It is always delicious :)  I'm sure it would be just as good with chicken.  As someone else mentioned, it is also easy on the budget.

Side note:  My son came home from work the other night and told me about a dish prepared by his employer (he works at a sushi restaurant, but the owners are Chinese and make different dishes for themselves and their employees' meals).  It was a spicy cabbage dish.  He tried it and to his surprise, liked it.  Maybe he'll try my crack slaw one of these days too!
