Update to Medicare and CGM Coverage

At my recent visit to my endocrinologist, he indicated willingness to "do whatever it takes" to get my CGM covered by Medicare.

While under current Medicare law Dexcom is specifically excluded, there have been cases in which Medicare has been required to cover their products - cases in Maryland and Wisconsin are documented in Internet reports.

Note, however, that significant battles occurred and in-person hearings were necessary with endocrinologists giving testimony.

Use of a CGM prior to going on Medicare may be a significant advantage.

There is currently bi-partisan legislation pending and I'd encourage those interested to follow and support it.
