Researchers at Washington University, School of Medicine have come to the conclusion that MODY is a more genetic form of Diabetes and should not be misdiagnosed as Type 2. They say that some of the drugs meant to control blood sugar in T2 could be dangerous to prescribe to MODY patients, as these drugs can kill the beta cells. They have not named the class of drugs BUT could they be talking about the 'glips'. Haven't we been saying that all along ?

It sure sounds like they're referring to the sulfonylureas - glyburide, glipizide and glimepiride (there are others - I just can't think of them right now). I wonder why they wouldn't name them?

 >:(  Yes, they put MODYs on SU's and burn them out faster.  I know a family of them in a group.  And the Mom WILL NOT hear it ... that SUs are bad.  Even with the increased cardiovascular risk from uncontrollable hypos ...  And yes, even though they produce insulin, it is a disease of insulin insufficiency!
