For years we recommended Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt for his excellent site detailing the low-carb/high-fat way-of-eating which has been enormously popular in his home country of Sweden - so much so that there was a butter shortage! But in recent months Dr. Eenfeldt has branched out into claiming his program can cure diabetes, and this is something we have no truck with. We know without doubt that it controls diabetes right down to the ground, but it is NOT A CURE. For that reason, we've backed away from referring to his site.

Give us your thoughts about this . . . are we throwing the baby out with the bathwater?

I discovered something else that was a bit disheartening - another of my favorite resources has moved on in his professional journey. Dr. Peter Attia has left  the Nutrition Science Initiative (NuSI), the organization he founded with Gary Taubes. Looking forward to seeing what is to come, but as I get older, I seem to be much more resistant to change!  :-\

The other problem I have with Eenfeldt's site is most of his content is now by paid subscription.  I am hesitant to send newbies there and have them feel we some how support this or get some kick back. And the Cure Diabetes banner really ticks me off.

While Prof Grant's site may not be perfect, and we do need to caution that diabetics can't take a "whatever" day, at this point I prefer it.

In addition to the excellent points above, Eenfeldt has also partnered with Dr. Jason Fung, proponent of Intermittent Fasting (IF).  Both propose IF for all diabetics.

Some folks find IF helpful.  Heck, I've gone on inadvertent IFs myself.  But diabetic metabolisms vary wildly.  For many, IF is an open invite to Dawn Phenomenon, or lows for the unwary insulin user.

From what I heard Attia is writing a book on Longevity. He's moved away from LCHF as his main focus.

Rats! I suppose he still supports it, but is no longer leading the charge, eh?
