Rocky,

I moved your post from The Lounge to The Food & Nutrition / Queries because of the dietary relevance of your question.

On the SAD (Standard American Diet) generally, a lot of carbs are consumed. These then convert to glucose when digested & glucose is the primary fuel for the body.
On LCHF we start to use ketones as fuel and so we are said to be in ketosis . The way of eating is therefore also known as a Ketogenic Diet.
The macro nutrient ratio of a ketogenic diet is known as The Ketogenic Ratio. Here's how you can deduce the KR. Just put in the gms of carbs, proteins & fats.

Everyday there is something new to learn here. But the above equation doesn't state the ratio like a : b : c as we've read earlier. This will deduce it to a number, so what should the good/ideal number be ?

Obviously the Ketogenic part of the numbers are supposed to be higher than the Anti Ketogenic component. Therefore the higher the number the more ketogenic the diet. I've heard and read that this should be at least 1.5 to be considered ketogenic.

Oh my goodness, that is quite the formula! I'm still working on getting my carbs down and fats up.  I think I'll wait before I get into this ketogenic plan.

rocky

oh this needs weighing of food so i won't be be able to do that
as you know i eat in the mess here

True. Weighing of food is required to work out anything. Even if you need to know if your C : P : F ratios you will need to weigh the food. At least for a couple of days till you know what portion weighs approximately how much.

Maybe this is a dumb question but does the food item need to be weighed before or after cooking ?  :P

We always maintain that the only dumb question is the one that wasn't asked. This one is a very valid one & gets asked a lot.

As cooking (especially at high temperature) changes a lot of the composition of the food at the molecular level, it is better to weigh the food before cooking. Make sure to weigh everything that is added to it and has a caloric value.

Thanks for that clarification skb.
I will do the weighing for a couple of meals and send you the data. You could help me further with the ratios based on that.
