Early on in my little adventure I received a diagnosis of type 1.5, however it was shortly revised to type 1 at the end of my "honeymoon" period, labs, especially the GAD 65 antibody test and a few bouts of DKA. Also, Metformin didn't work.

I think a large part of the confusion was that I was 60-years old at onset.

I no longer recall exactly the difference between 1 and 1.5 and I suspect that confusion is shared by doctors and insurance companies many of whose diagnostic categories seem still not to recognize 1.5.

Well, in any event, treatment with insulin is largely the same, I believe.
