I thought everyone knew that.  I have used this for decades and my father used it before me.  He liked a mixture of coconut oil and grease for some of the farm implements, disk, corn planter, and plow.

Basically, all oils will help prevent rust. I use WD40 to protect my guns.

I was a competitive sports shooter from 1993-2002. But I still have all the equipment.
