Cholesterol & Statins

My mother is 81 years of age. Otherwise in good health though she has lost a lot of weight in past 3 years or so. For a total cholesterol reading of 228 Dr wants to put her on a Statin. I have put my foot down & refused. Her routine blood work is pretty good. A little low on Apo-A1. I think she needs more fat in her diet.
