Quote from: walkerwally1 on November 24, 2016, 10:07:43 AMToday is Thanksgiving in America when we reflect on all of the things we are thankful for.  Of course family and friends top the list but there are many things we all can be thankful for.  This forum is on my list as a way to interact with people who are in the same boat and understand the problems we are dealing with.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Indeed, there are many things that we are thankful for, and friends at The Diabetic Pub are one of them. It is a joy interacting with you all, everyday,

Happy Thanksgiving to you friends who understand the problems of having diabetes and to whom we can ask questions when necessary.

Survived the holiday pretty well, and having spent it by ourselves, there's isn't quite the mountain of leftovers there might have been if we'd had a houseful of kids.  ;)

I didn't even do a turkey - had a big fat chicken in the freezer that was nearly the size of a small turkey - good grief! Fifty years ago when I was learning to cook, chickens came in sizes about 2½ or at the most 3 pounds. This old clucker was nearly 7 pounds! But it was nice & fat which made for great gravy . . . I fixed the green bean casserole & a pecan pie, because they are favorites of my everlovin', and he even had pecan pie for breakfast today! This is exceptional, because he is tradition personified & breakfast is deemed to be pancakes or ham/eggs or anything with bacon. He's making progress!  `8)

I wanted to add my thanks to this site and the posters here.  After getting my diagnosis, I was freaked out.  Learning that I could take control of my blood sugar was so important and I have been able to mostly stick with the LCHF way of eating.  I had a wonderful family-filled Thanksgiving.  My sister made brussel sprouts with lots of butter and I really enjoyed them.  The turkey was yummy.  I had a small side of sweet potatoes and a glass of red wine, and for dessert, I made a pumpkin mousse (butter, cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, some sugar substitute, and a bit of pumpkin puree)
