Christmas Dinner

What's everybody having for Christmas dinner?  How about dessert?  I'm not sure what I'm doing. I'll be alone this year.   :(

My BH enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner so much that he wants it all again for Christmas!  ;D   So it's roast chicken & fixin's again awreddy (because even a small turkey is too much for just the two of us). But I just realized I've forgotten to get the stuff for green bean casserole, and that's one of his best things. I'll have to make a short run up to town before the week is over . . .  ::)

Oh! And dessert is pecan pie . . .

Since our grown son's plans are uncertain, they both have requested an unusual Christmas dinner.  They like their Dad's homemade chili and cornbread.  Dessert will probably be homemade apple crisp with french vanilla ice cream (for them).

We have to attend a wedding on the 24th evening so there'll be lots of carby food and alcohol.  I'll have to use the latter to offset the former.

I'll be travelling so I'll probably have dinner at a hotel Christmas party. Will try to be careful though.

For as long as I can remember (been married for 43 years, now), Mrs. S's extended family (hers is Catholic/Christian, ours is Jewish) has gathered at one house or another for potluck Christmas dinner and a family-wide gift exchange.  Menu is more or less: turkey, ham (as the Jewish members of the family, we traditionally bring the ham), menudo, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries, yams, salad, veggies, side dishes, fruit salad, rolls, and a table full of assorted cakes, cookies, and candies.  Beverages include coffee, tea, sugar-free drinks, and whatever alcoholic beverages folks contribute.

I pretty much stick to meat, veggies (raw broccoli, cauliflower, celery, salad--and the family is usually good about putting dressings and things like that "on the side"), and an alcoholic beverage or two.

It is just me, myself, and I here.  The friends I usually go to for Christmas have become "snow birds" and driven off to California for the winter. Today I bought some lovely king crab legs which will be dinner with a big green salad.

The husband of the friend I usually go to for Christmas Eve has not been well, so I think that is going to be off too.  I bought the most beautiful scallops for dinner (just in case) with some broccoli sautéed with shallots.

I don't do dessert, but I have some SF Jello cups in the refrig.  I may whip up some HWC and stir it into the Jello.

I went out with some friends to Sentosa for the Christmas weekend. The resort we stayed in, had a party for Christmas with a vast buffet spread. My plate mostly consisted of fish & chicken. But there were some things I should have avoided.  :-X

Belatedly responding.  We had a total of 12 people for Christmas, and everyone contributed something.  My sis and her S/O made the turkey, a huge dish of mashed potatoes and rosemary rolls.  I made a broccoli salad recipe that another of my sister's suggested to me (and I'll share it on the recipe thread, twas quite good).  Another sister made jello salad.  I made a lemon cheesecake.  We had apple pie, and fudge and wine.

I did have a small serving of mashed potatoes, turkey, broccoli salad and a nice glass of red wine.  Of course, a nice slice of cheesecake for dessert.  I'm enjoying the leftover cheesecake, one slice per night.
