Peculiar night

I had fallen asleep on the sofa this evening & woke up at midnight to find BH in his chair across the room. He said he couldn't sleep, and by then neither could I. He asked if he'd wakened me, and I realized he had - indirectly - because the cat who sleeps on my feet had gotten up when he came in & that wakened me. But no matter . . . we can always sleep whatever time of day we get drowsy.

After a few minutes I remembered the green goddess dip in the fridge, so I suggested we have a coupla small steaks with some high fat dip. After that, we had small bowls of berries with cream - our local grocery had blueberries/blackberries/raspberries on sale this week. So good! And a whole cupful of blackberries or raspberries is 15g of carbs - so a half cup isn't too bad.

And that's the peculiar night - waking in the middle of the night - actually COOKING something to eat, and going back to bed! We won't need breakfast!   `8)

And yes, I'm headed back to bed, if Sir Kittycat has left room for me.  ~ cat ~

Since being retired I have pretty much thrown the schedule out the window.  I find it easy to catch an hour or two of sleep during the day if I need it so if I wake up in the middle of the night it is often better to get up for a bit than lie there and try to go back to sleep.  If I am hungry a snack doesn't seem out of order at all.   :D

My BH is still working part-time and he works a second shift job.  So I am free to sleep in if I want.  Most of the time, for whatever reason, I can't seem to sleep past 8 or 9 a.m.  I find it easy to fall asleep late afternoon while I'm watching television, after BH has gone to work......but get up and lay down on the bed - I am wide awake !

Isn't it funny how the furry critters "own" the sofa, the desktop keyboard, the laptop keyboard, the favorite chair, the sofa and the bed.  We don't own them - it's the other way around.

Yep - Waylon sleeps on my feet - no matter where they are! I can stretch them all the way down to the foot of the bed - he goes down there. I can curl up in a ball and he still finds my feet and sleeps there. He's a strange kittycat!  ~ cat ~

Did I ever show you the pictures from the night he wiggled into my soft cervical collar and strutted around like a peacock?!

LOL Shanny!! What a true cat picture!  He's just trying to get closer to you!!

Yeah, weird schedule here too. Night owl, sleep in, mostly a hermit.  I literally hate it when I have to go out. This Nov will be the 20th anniversary of my DH's passing.  I miss him a lot, but I'm not really lonely and certainly not "looking" for company.

My cat has taken a different attack to lap sitting lately.  He starts in my lap and when I finally try to get up, he goes behind me and curls up in the recliner so I can't sit there for a long time.  Of course the recliner is the most comfy chair in the house!  It is good/bad I do better with my steps for the day, but I kind of miss the cuddles...

Shanny, at first I thought your cat had a big patch of white fur in the mid section, until I read your post.  LOL.  Cats can be such wonderful, entertaining company.  My cat likes to curl up behind my knees at night.  In the cool months, that's quite nice.  In the summer, I am constantly pushing her away.  A couple weeks ago, I was under the weather and lay resting on the couch all day.  My cat stayed with me all day, which was a great comfort.

Your midnight snack sounded delicious.
