Secure Site

As of a week ago, we obtained a SSL Certificate and our site is now "Secure". What this means is that, data being transferred between your PC and the server is encrypted and cannot be deciphered. This is essential for all merchant sites because of financial transactions. For us it just means that passwords and other information cannot be stolen.

When you now login, you will notice the "Secure" label with the Green Pad-Lock in the browser address bar. Earlier it used to say "Not Secure" if anyone did notice. Google Chrome & Firefox have implemented this protocol (announcing Secure/Not Secure) some months ago, so it has become necessary for sites to obtain security certificates.

It is a matter of pride, that we are probably the first Diabetes Forum to have got this done. Image is attached to help understand.

A point of mention is that most sites use "http" as the prefix. Secure sites use "https", as you will note in the address bar. The additional "s" stands for secure.

Great job skb. Congratulations.

As you say, I never noticed the "secure / not secure" tags. But then it's nice to know that now we are secure.
