Hi and welcome to the Pub.  I am sure you have a lot of questions and people here are quite helpful.  There is a lot of information nowadays out on the internet and some is good and some is not any help at all.  Most people on this forum have learned to control their blood sugar with diet, mainly cutting carbs.  I would suggest that you take a look at the website " Blood Sugar 101 " by Jenny Ruhl at :
http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/
This is probably one of the best places to get the most information that is reliable.  After that you will surely have more questions so fell free to ask.

And the second is a LCHF (Low Carbohydrate High Fat) way of eating

Hello danielpatrik,

You have the good fortune of landing in the correct place. I came here quite by accident about a year ago and I have reduced my fasting numbers from 170+ to 90+ in less than 3 months. Do read from the website as suggested. Wish you all success.

If you're adopting LCHF that is "the" right step to take, and congratulations for that. I like your spirit, and can predict that you will be reporting non-diabetic numbers in months. Exercise is the other part. Do it regularly and that will help consume any glucose circulating.

Though, I feel sorry that you got hit by this speeding truck called D on your anniversary. But hey, cheer up, it could have been worse.
