Anti inflammatory foods and/or supplements

I've been having more trouble than usual with arthritis pain and my GP has mentioned she could give me a short time of steroid therapy.  I'm not all that happy about taking steroids if I could avoid it by eating anti inflammatory foods or supplements.  I take turmeric capsules and use turmeric spice on my scrambled eggs in the morning.  Does anyone else have other recommendations?

I can't really be of much help with this.  I tried glucosamine chondroitin which is supposed to help but it did me no good.  I think that the only way to find out if a supplement or food will help is to try it.  I have tried supplements others have found helpful and saw no change but others do.  It may depend on what you are lacking in the diet or just that we are all different.  The cortisone injections on the other hand solved the osteoarthritis in my knees and also solved trigger finger in my thumb and middle finger.  The bummer is that it may cause a significant rise in blood sugar.  I was lucky and only saw a slight rise in bg and have had several injections.  For me they last about 6 months.

I too have had excellent results with the cortisone shots. My left thumb, a trigger finger on my right hand and bulging discs in my low back.  I get several years out of one set of shots.  And never had any problems with bg after.

I haven't tried supplements, not really sure they will actually help and you never really know what is in some of them.

Other than what Wally has suggested, vitamin C could help. The dosage has to be reasonably high. If you plan to take orally (pills) do consider that only 30% at max will eventually be absorbed by the body.

Liposomal / lipospheric Vitamin C is the best bet, as it ensures maximum delivery (as high as 90%). If you Googled these terms, many commercially available products will show up. My guess is you will need at least 3 gms per day of this type of Vitamin C to help with joint pain. Since these items are not available here, I make it on my own for self consumption.

Vitamin C helps with the formation of collagen in the body. Collagen is the backbone in the formation of all tissue. It is like the webbing used to weave all tissue. Naturally, it is the most abundant protein in the body, and protein is what we are made up of.

How do you do that ? If it is not too cumbersome, can you please share it with us.

Sure thing rocky. You'll have to invest a little in some of the ingredients and a little machine that is readily available. The actual process is also time consuming as fats are not easily soluble in water, so you'll have to invest some time as well.

If you search for the above terms on YouTube many short videos will open up on the subject.
