This article suggests that patients suffering from T1 diabetes for decades display a loss of cognitive function and memory. I think after decades of age we all display these losses. But, here's the article,

Personally I think that even non diabetic people have 'mild' memory losses as they age.  The article tries to make it look like T1 memory loss is more noticeable.  Joslin did a study on people who have had diabetes for 50 years or more and from what I have read of their study, they were surprised that these folks were as  healthy as they were.  I agree with you skb.

I certainly agree Grammabear.  'Mild' memory loss seems to be part of aging whether diabetic or not.
