I think Walkerwally1 has the ketonix breath analyzer, which is pretty pricey at the outset, but is a one-time only expense. Maybe he'll stop by this thread & post more & better information! How about it, Wally?  ;D

I have the Precision X-tra monitor that can measure both blood glucose and ketones.  The place where I found the best price on the ketone strips was eBay.  A national chain drugstore charged me more than three times what I paid at eBay.  Since I use insulin having the ketone strips on hand is a good thing.

I have the Ketonix breathalyser. But I haven't used it for nearly 3 months now. Because I know that I've been bad & mostly out of Ketosis. Besides, I don't think that the ketonix is a ver accurate or reliable system. The blood ketones are a better measure any day. I also use the urine strips which are a cheap handy (not very accurate) way to know.

I do have the Ketonix and it works quite well.  I think the new model is $150 but you can check at ketonix.com.  When I first started LCHF I got the Precision Xtra blood ketone meter and I agree the cost of strips are way high.  I have also found better buys on ebay but it seems hip or miss.  I bought the Ketonix a bit over a year ago and when they came out with the new model I sent mine for an upgrade.  The thing I like about the new model is that it sends a results to the website and you can log in and print it out.  On the other side I don't use it much anymore because I don't have any surprises anymore.  I keep my diet and bg quite constant and I am always in ketosis so I don't really see a need to check it anymore.  When first starting out on a ketogenic diet it can rally be useful to check your status and I checked often.
The Ketonix measures Acetone which is one of the three ketones.  The blood ketone meters measure βHOB which is the ketone found in the blood.  Using both of them will give you a different percentage of ketones but there is a reason for that and while they don't match it still is a good way to test for the state of ketosis.  A trip to the Ketonix website should be helpful in answering many questions.
