108 this morning.

Temperature is 44 deg with a high of59 predicted for today.  At least maybe our lawn will get mowed so it doesn't look like a hay field.

103 this morning.  Well Tamagno, it looks like we are swapping weather.  We only got to 66° yesterday and it looks like we will in the 60s and low 70s for the week.  Next week it should be back to the 80s.
Yeah, the Traeger grill is a lot of fun.  it is different than cooking on the gas grill so there is a bit of a learning curve but it does do a nice job.  This model is barrel shaped and has a fan so it moves the heat and smoke around and cooks more like a convection oven.  One technique is called a "reverse sear" and when the meat gets close to the desired internal temp you crank the heat up to the highest setting, 450° on this model, and sear the meat on each side.  We did that with the Tri-tip and it worked well.

97 this cloudy morning, 104 at bedtime last night.

The high today was 52° overnight prediction 41°. Another dry day, rain in forecast for Wed.

Just found out my second oldest GD was accepted at Cal Poly her major at this point is Biomedical Engineering. Wow, didn't see that one coming. Maybe from years of watching her older sister deal with T1 diabetes...

Quote from: Grammabear on May 19, 2019, 10:06:11 AMskb, can you explain how monsoon affects the everyday life of Mumbai residents?  Monsoon sounds oppressive, but I'm sure it has a purpose.

I think this article will give you a fair idea of what the Mumbai monsoons are like.

I remember when I was in India in 2000, seeing water lines on the walls of one of the hotels we stayed at, about 2-3 feet high. I don't remember where now but it was something to see. I was there in September/October.

Quite an achievement for your GD, BigSkyGal; congratulations.

Wally, I love the flavor from smoke and charcoal; lately thinking about trying an actual smoker that cooks longer with indirect heat. I recall traveling through the Deep South years ago and the flavor of actual barbecue. It'd be fun to try.

skb - Thank you for the link with the story about monsoons.  Living in the Midwest of the US, we occasionally get more than our share of rain but nothing like the story describes in Mumbai.  I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to deal with that much flooding on an extended time frame.

105 this morning.  No monsoon here but quite a lot of wind.  It looks like that will be around for a couple of days.
Yeah Tamagno, the flavor of meat cooked over hardwood is hard to beat.  The nice thing about these grills is that basically all you do is plug it in and push start and it is ready in bout 15 min. to start cooking.  There are a variety of different hardwood pellets to choose from and you can change as you wish depending on what you want.  I do like it better than a charcoal BBQ.
SKB, it is kind of hard to imagine the amount of rainfall you deal with when I am living in an area that has an average annual rainfall of 4.25 inches a year.  Quite a difference.  This year we are at a whopping 7.35 inches total for the year and our rainy season is pretty much over.

Woke early to the wonderful, silvery light of a bright moon; the sort you hear described in fantastical tales by people like C.S. Lewis and George MacDonald. If it weren't for the addition of wolves howling in the woods, it'd be tempting to be outside.

Tamagno - Love your description of the silvery moon and wolves howling in the woods.  Much better to wake to that scenario than to wake to the crack of thunder preceeding a horrible thunderstorm.

108 this morning.  I did have a 1/2 baked potato last night with left over ribs so not too bad considering.
It was really windy yesterday and woke up this morning to a sprinkle.  Not a lot but enough to get the pavement wet.  I just noticed that it is sprinkling again.  I don't know where this came from and it seems to have surprised the weather people also.  I am looking forward to next week when the temp will be higher.  It is supposed to be in the mid to high 80s.

103 this partly cloudy morning, 102 at bedtime last night.

Late to post as I went up to town and was doing a lot of shopping that yielded not much.

It got up to 60° with overnight prediction of 39°. Rain still in the forecast for Fri/Sat & Sun. Tamagno, I really wish I could have seen that full moon. The clouds totally covered it here.

Tamagno

143 this morning.

My phraseology is likely just carry over from what I'm reading right now, but thank you!

As to the wolves, that's another matter altogether. Like mountain lions, they're not here according to the Wisdom of the State so the first time I heard it, found it really frightening - much lower in pitch and louder than our usual coyotes. I very much think it's not something I'd like to encounter in person.

Much cooler and rainy here today; a good day to stay in.
