The storms passed through quickly this afternoon.  There was just a small amount of rain, barely wet my deck.  The problem with lightening is it can start more fires.  I haven't seen any current updates on the fire tonight, they usually come out in the morning.

Sending you our rains, Barb, but be warned . . . while they're putting out fires they're also washing out roads. I think I'm beginning to understand the nuances of the weather reports: They say 30% chance of showers, but they don't mention what seems to be 98% of gully-washers! We don't get showers so they're right about that - we get toad-strangling torrents!  ???

102 today  ;D
hope all fires go away soon

Well, I guess I'd say we had something of a toad-strangling torrent yesterday with more than 2" of rain in less than half an hour.

Our roads are intact, however. The Housatonic river that often floods down in town where the main grocery is, remains far too low to be a threat.

Dinner with Big Pharma Friend tonight - rumors persist regarding major mergers and acquisitions in that world. I may need to reinforce my aluminum foil hat this evening...

89 (4.93) this morning.  Staying cooler, 92° (33.3°C) yesterday with a nice breeze made walking outside enjoyable.  This morning we had a low of 49° (9.4°C) and that was nice.  Maybe Fall is on it's way ....... Nah !

If it dropped to 49° over here, I bet I'd sleep for a year!  ;D  I need a really cold room to sleep well.

Snap myself from yesterday with another 81 (4.49) this cloudy morning, 83 (4.6) at bedtime last night.

Fire grew a little overnight.  It is at 8,262 acres now, 25% contained.  They only got between 1/10" to 1/3" of rain there and because of the tree cover, most didn't hit the ground.  Today the worry is that the thunderstorms predicted are conducive to large hail.  Golf ball sized that could damage equipment and injure fire fighters.  Again I hope not!

Shanny, it is supposed to be 49°F here tonight.  It is much cooler even now, only 66°F (18.9°C).    :)

We used to say that water would prob'ly freeze in our bedroom during winter months. We always had to drain the plumbing upstairs to prevent broken pipes, but that didn't prevent us from sleeping up there. And I have no doubt that a plate of water WOULD freeze on some of those below-zero nights, but I slept like a log!  :D

My bedroom window is always open.  It could be -15°F (-26.1°C) outside and it is still open!! Need that fresh, cool/cold air to sleep well.
