When we bought our house back in 1970, the price of electricity was cheap.  We were young and foolish, so we bought this  house which heats with electricity.  Now we're old and foolish and we still live in the same house.  When we had really cold weather as in below zero F, our heating bills were often $350+.  We do have a fireplace that we can use if our power goes off.

71 (3.93) this cold morning, 74 at bedtime last night.

I heat with natural gas.  My Winter bills are usually close to $300 each month.  It is cheap in the Summer and they hike the price up in the Winter when one really needs it.  >:(

Well the pump man showed up this morning, but I still don't have water.  I didn't go to the store because I figured he would fix the pump.  Something is still frozen somewhere.  I had an extra barn heater so he set that up under the house and worked on thawing the pipe at the pump.  There was some action but no water got to the house.  The heater in the pump house should finish the thawing process.  He had to turn the pump off, but will come back tomorrow morning and check things out.

I was thinking about your pump man & whether he got there today. We had dr. appts. & were away from home all afternoon. Tonight our neighbor came down to help BH move more firewood to the porch, so I've been rather derelict in getting through the board today.  :-\

When my daughter got married (2009) she was staying in a rented apartment in Budapest in a very old building. That house, used pipes with hot water running in them for heating. Now she lives in a modern apartment block that uses electric heating running under the wooden floors. Here, in the Indian Himalayan hills whenever we've travelled, we've encountered electrical heaters with inbuilt fans to keep the rooms warm.

Singapore has identical weather throughout the year and it rains a lot. But in Saudia it was the other way round. The air conditioning was kept on all 24 hours.

I had a slightly better number 106 today.

100 today morning.

I checked later than usual so maybe that is the reason for the drop.

Baked a marble cake for my mom, but i was good and resisted well. We had a 'Secret Santa' in our office yesterday and i got a gift of 2 story books for my kids. I loved my colleague for it. The story telling session lasted for more than 2 hours at night and i did not like him so much then!  :-\

My dog is like my shadow these days. Cannot believe that it is less than a month that she came home. She is glaring at me as my typing is disturbing her sleep  ~tnk~

93 (5.15) this morning.  Just 1° below freezing this morning.  The chance of snow Christmas eve is growing, still depends on who you listen to but from 40% to 60% so it could happen.

Yeah for you to have water again.  We have had those types of problems with our pump also, you never know how much you appreciate water until you don't have any.  Hope your pump stays strong.

92 (5.10) this morning.  Happy Winter Solstice and first day of Winter to those in the Northern Hemi.  As such it was unusually warm this morning at 45° (7.2°C)  It still looks like a fairly good chance of rain and maybe snow Saturday so there actually could be a White Christmas.
Yeah, I'm afraid Tamagno is going through some rough times and I hope he can check in soon.

114 (6.3) this morning.
Our winter weather is also strange Wally.  Last week this time we were below zero at -18 deg F, this week we are 27F (-2C).  The forecast for the midwest is for rain/freezing rain for Christmas Day.  Since we have family coming, I'm hoping it is not freezing rain.

74 (4.1) this morning, 67 (3.71)at bedtime last night.

Mild today, it got to 37°F (2.77°C).  Overnight predicted to be 26°F (-3.33°C).

Yes, skb, I had about 10 gallons of water on hand (I always have it) and ate off of paper plates. I heated water in the microwave to clean utensils and the pan I cooked in.  Fortunately I have 3 bathrooms which helps. Bathing is just warm water with a wash cloth.  Not a fun time but I get through it.

At least I had heat, electricity, and the internet. This Summer I am going to have to have some repairs made to my pump house.

An alternate pump ? I don't think they aren't too expensive.
93 today morning.

That's a very low number for me. I was up at 3 am and munched on a couple of leaves of berberis which stopped DP coming into play.
