113 this morning, a big improvement over yesterday.  It is still hot and humid here, almost like a sauna.

Tamagno - I was really dismayed to see such high numbers on my meter.  I did test several times for ketones so as to keep track of the possibility of DKA.  I wish you the best when you have your medical procedure and hope it turns out well for you.

It's VERY scary . . . stay safe, Wally.

92 (5.1) this cloudy breezy morning, 96 (5.32) at bedtime last night. Feeling punk, have a deep rattly cough and my chest is so sore from coughing I have to hold it when I cough. Not sure if it residuals from swallowing a drink of scotch the wrong way Wed night and coughing like crazy for a couple of hours.  But yesterday, I was pretty good...

@Tamagno, that port is going to make a world of difference in your treatments!!

@Wally, be safe!  When I lived in the Sierras in Northern CA there were several times my car was packed for days with all my valuables and every time I left, I said goodbye to my home.  Things can change so fast!

:-[ AJ has been hovering between 130-140 for the past 2 days. He's not well. It's viral season here, and he's down but not out. Poor chap is working today with a very heavy head and a baaaad cold.

201 this morning (had urinalysis done yesterday; specialist already put me back on amoxicillin pending culture).

Wally, I sure don't like to hear about those fires - sounds like Bigskygal's commentary and "bug out" kit has wisdom. Meanwhile I'll pray...

G-bear, did you show ketones? Generally I start with dry mouth when glucose goes over 350 for more than a couple of hours - if it doesn't come down and ketones are >moderate, it means the ER for me (stunningly, their ridiculous protocol requires you to eat a sandwich following treatment - they've now learned I won't do it).

Also curious if you had to replace the infusion set and if T-Slim sent you a new one.

Anyway, just now I'm waiting for the nurse to come put in the line (last time for that!) for my infusion. Good deal as the last few days have been awful with pain and spasming - I look like I've got Huntington's. Last night I had to ask my wife to give me Valium (couldn't do it myself) to calm things down. It works but I think is bad to take all the time. Well, I ought to be better by Sunday.

Tamagno ~  Yes I did show ketones.  I have a Precision Xtra Monitor which can do either a blood glucose reading or a blood ketone reading.  The blood ketone reading shows ketones at least 2 hours before it shows up in the urine.  A reading between 0.6 - 1.8 is supposed to be a reason to contact your doctor.  But I started drinking water in order to wash out the ketones, otherwise it would have been a trip to the ER for me as well.  The last time this happened I did go to the ER which was a free-standing facility and they transferred me to the regular hospital 25 miles away.  That ambulance ride cost me $1600 because Medicare deemed it unnecessary on the basis that I walked into the free standing ER on my own power.  All they did for me at the hospital was IV with glucose which sent my blood glucose readings even higher.  So now I am reluctant to go back there where clearly they do not know how to treat type one diabetes.  Wishing the best for you.

88 (4.88) this morning.  Yesterday the winds were a lot less and the fire did not grow near as fast as it did Friday.  The scary thing about this fire was how fast it moved and people had little or no warning where the 80 homes were lost.  Good news for us here is that all day yesterday the winds were from the North and that keeps it away from here.  The frustrating thing is that news is so hard to get.  Local news media is horrible and InciWeb, which is supposed to have the most up to date information is many hours behind.  Latest update was 6:00 PM yesterday so no idea where the fire is now or how much it has grown.  As of last night it was 30,000 Acres and is the largest in California this season.  I don't think we are in any danger but as conditions can change, on the watch for any change.  Always ready to bug out and this is something we live with in the mountains.

80 (4.43) this mostly sunny morning, 76 (4.21) at bedtime last night.

The cough is better this morning.  Slept in really late, maybe that helped.

Glad to hear all is still OK with you Wally.  I well remember the frustration at not being able to get accurate and current reports on condition of the fire.

My goodness, life has steamed rolled over me!!  I have been so busy at work and with life problems that I have really been having a problem sticking with the lc/hf program.  My fasting numbers have been in the 190's and 180's recently.  I know that is not good, gosh I really need to get back with the program!  I just don't seem to have the energy after a hard day to not go for the old comfort food.

Shanny

I hear you loud & clear, Kelly . . . not sure why it's easier, but it definitely is.  ~hug~

Tamagno

158 this morning - much better today after kicking up basal insulin and boluses yesterday.

Gosh, Wally, 30,000 acres is tremendous! I'm so glad you and your house are so far untouched, but it's awful for the 80 people whose homes were destroyed.

G-bear, that's a lousy DKA story. My wife (the lovely and gracious Dr. Laura who's a clinical psychologist) comes home from her clinic on a regular basis with tales of similar Medicare outrages in which costs get bounced back to those who can least afford it. I think legislators should have to use the same health care as the rest of us. Treating DKA with an insulin and glucose IV???!!!

Second day of IVIG today and nausea/headache have set in with a vengeance. I use Ondansetron for the former but cannot take anything for the latter on account of being in stage III kidney failure the last number of years. Well, it'll pass in a day or two and I'll feel much better.

AJ has recovered a bit from the cold & cough but his numbers are still high. I guess they'll be there for a while, till the infection is completely out.

He was 145 today morning.  ???

@Tamagno ~ Your number is good considering what you are going through at this time.  I'm hoping today is kinder to you and your headache eases up soon.
