95 (5.26) this morning.  Fire is down to creeping, I like creeping much better.  Full containment now expected next Tuesday but it is not threatening homes now.  Yesterday I read that California has had 290 wildfires since January first this year and our "fire season" has not really started yet.  It is probably going to be a bad year for fires.  Temperature remains hot here.  We have been 99-100°  (37.2-37.8°C) here for the last few days and it will continue for at least the next four days then cooling down only 4-5 degrees.  A bit hot to be walking around outside in the afternoon.
@Tamagno, I know how much you were looking forward to the port, I hope it heals soon and offers you the convenience you wanted.

Tamagno - No, Tandem does not replace a kinked cannula.  Dexcom will replace their sensor if it fails within the first 7 days of wearing it.  Hope your port heals up quickly for you and you feel better.

87 (4.82) this hot smoky morning, 92 (5.1) at bedtime last night. Feel about the same as yesterday add in a headache...

There is a fire to the south of me, not nearly as big as Wally's fire, but the smoke is not helping my breathing at all.

(((John))) so sorry it was a difficult procedure, sending healing thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Wow Barb, I hope it stays to the south of you.  Even if it doesn't get close the smoke can be a bear and miserable.  I have a feeling it could be a bad year for fires all over.  Hope you feel better and stay safe.

Thanks Wally, the southern fire is not a threat other than the smoke.  About 5 hours ago one broke out to the North of me, again not a physical threat at this point, but boy the breathing is not good. Shut up in the house (no ac here) in the 90's but I can't open up unless the winds change.

I agree, it is going to be a bad fire season!!  We are behind in water here too.  That is why I found a company to mow my yard, but I still have lots of vegetation around me.

116 today. The rains are back again with a vengeance. Been raining non stop for the past 14-15 hours. The satellite image also shows heavy cloud cover so there's more in store around the corner.

Wally, John. Barb take care and be well. You're all in our prayers.

My life is based on a true story.

256 this morning.

I sure you hope you west coasters get rain and some relief! I don't suppose there's anything you can really do to protect yourselves. I wonder what happens to the wildlife in all that burning acreage; I'm thinking especially of bears who don't reproduce like deer, rabbits, etc.

My little surgery seems okay now despite a small hematoma that's developed and some pain; it doesn't show any sign of infection, however.

83 (4.6) this morning.  I love Crack Slaw and it is filling and very kind to my numbers.  Recipe in the recipe section.  I don't think I need to talk about the fire anymore.  It isn't fully contained yet but also is not doing much.  Final total 47,864 acres, 285 homes destroyed with 12 damaged.  Cost of fighting so far $19.3 Million
and crews will be for a while moping up and putting out hot spots.  The most damaging fire in Kern County history and the largest so far this year in California.
@Tamagno, I doubt we will see any rain for the rest of the summer although thunder storms do happen but they also bring lightening strikes and that is a problem.  Animals are smarter than humans and when they smell a fire, usually long before there are flames, they get the heck out of the area.  Not that they can't be trapped but usually they get the heck out.   Glad your surgery is getting better.

90 (4.99) this smoky morning, fell asleep in recliner last night so no bedtime reading. Feeling a touch better today.  Maybe sleeping sitting up was a good thing...

Fire to the north of me is contained.  They jumped on that one very fast and the terrain was pretty flat.  The one to the south of me is only 10% contained and has grown to just over 1000 acres.  It is in the mountains and access is difficult.  So far they have kept it from the homes, but the smoke is all up and down the valley.  :(

Our youngest son runs a FireSmart business in Durango CO, whereby he & his crews trim and clear as much vegetation as possible up close around homes. He has degrees in natural resource management, which he developed into this quite some years ago. Of course in a raging out-of-control wildfire, nothing helps, but regular clearing & pruning gives firefighters a chance to save the structures since they have a bit of a buffer zone. And people do insist on building their homes deeper & deeper into the forests.  :-\

123 today morning. This side it's raining cats & dogs. The satellite image shows more rain for the next two days.

220 this morning.

We had thunderstorms and some fairly short but heavy rain last evening. Something of a relief, but still high humidity.

Not much doing today except practicing and maybe a little shopping. Of course, the weekenders will be here in force, so a trip to town may be ill advised!

92 (5.1) this morning.  Temp remains about the same, 93° (33.9°C) yesterday.  Nice in the morning and evening but hot in the afternoon and a bit hot for walking.  I go out for about 4-5 min. at the most and then back into the house with cooling.   ~hot~
Plans for the 4th of July weekend are to stay home and barbeque  ~bbq~
No need to fight holiday crowds.   ;D

87 (4.82) this cloudy morning, 88 (4.88) at bedtime last night.  Feeling better today, finally!!

The clouds have brought the temps down somewhat, low 80's, which is fine by me!!

Going to my friend's house nearby for the 4th, otherwise sticking close to home.
