Great a1c, Pat!

I'm off this morning for my first chemo/radiation treatments. These are going to be five-days a week for almost six weeks. Should be interesting...

Trearnents aren't bad at all outside of prednisone that comes with the chemo. I can definitely do this.

Looks like our little warm spell is ending today but I've only got radiation today and am home alone!

John - Glad to hear the treatments thus far are tolerable.  The prednisone might require tweaking of your basal and bolus rates.  But your Endo should be able to help you with that.  Best wishes.

Hope our weather holds steady for a few days as we are having new windows put in after almost 50 years.  The workmen don't need rain today or tomorrow.

93 (5.15) this morning.  Maybe nobody noticed but I haven't posted for a few days, since 10/20 actually.  I had to call 911 on 10/21 because I couldn't even get out of bed.  Went to local hospital and they didn't have the specialist they felt were needed so was transported to another hospital about 80 miles from here. I just got released yesterday and have to go for more testing with my primary MD.  Diagnosis was Hypercalcemia which is a much higher level of calcium in the blood than normal.  At that point everything was out of whack and I was in very poor shape.  I have undergone a variety of tests, scans, pokes and probes and there is not a cause determined yet although some things have been eliminated.  My doctor wants a PET scan done because one of the possibilities is cancer that is causing the high calcium and since other causes have been eliminated that looms as a cause.  I have an appointment with my primary tomorrow so follow up will begin.
I didn't have any way to communicate from the hospital, I did have my phone brought to me but I can't figure out how to use the app on my phone and I am truly horrible at entering text on my phone.   :)
I'll try to keep in touch.

We definitely missed you, Wally! Sorry to learn why, but so glad you're back. Having electrolytes outta whack can cause enormous problems. Wishing you good results in the ensuing tests.  ~hug~

@John, glad to hear the treatments are tolerable. Like Shanny, I couldn't "Like" your post, but sending a ~hug~.

@Wally, you were absolutely missed!!  Hope your tests find the reason and it is an easy fix.  ~hug~

You were missed from the very first day Wally.
If you're taking any form of Vit D supplementation, I suggest you stop it immediately.
A senior friend of mine collapsed in the shower for no apparent reason and was hospitalised for a week. After the tests couldn't point anywhere, it was termed as a TIA. Turns out that he had taken Vit D shots (600,000 units) the previous week. Excessive Vit D supplementation is known to cause calcification when cholecalciferol turns to the active Vit D3. I'm suspecting my kidney stones have been formed because of that.
Do keep us updated on what the tests reveal.

We do not have an App as yet, but you can connect to the forum from any phone using a browser. Just be sure to collapse the right panel with the [-] button on top of the right side blocks and you'll be fine. We do use a responsive display which auto adjusts to the screen width, so phones are not an issue. One more thing, the Menu will have only icons & no text.

Take care, be well.

95 (5.26) this morning.  Off to see my primary MD this morning for further testing and follow up.  I do have to arrange for a  colonoscopy  as there was a small amount of blood in my stool.
You are right SKB, vitamin D was one of the things I was advised to avoid as it does tend to cause elevated calcium.  Interesting in that I was taking vitamin D until about two months ago when my doctor tested for Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D and both were normal so I stopped the V D.  With the treatment in the hospital to bring down my calcium it did come down and now is lower than normal so I am now on a calcium supplement.
I'm walking but I need a walker to use for support.  I am still weak and need to rest a bit when walking a distance.  Getting around the house OK but going out I am going to need the walker for support.  Still it's a very big step from not even being able to get out of bed.  It seems to be improving daily although rather slowly.
SKB, I was able to connect to the forum on my IPhone and read posts but I could not reply.  If there is a way I didn't figure it out and if I did my fumble fingers make it very difficult to enter text on the small phone.  I may experiment from home to see if I can make it work for the future.
