Whether a wound—such as a diabetic foot ulcer—heals or progresses to a worse outcome, including infection or even amputation, may depend on the microbiome within that wound.

I have a sister in law who is a microbiologist and she mentioned to me that in one of her microbiology periodicals, there is a medical grade of honey that seems to help heal diabetic wounds when all else fails.

I have a distant relative who lost a leg. I hope these studies turn into medicine practise so such things can be stopped.

This is why I work so hard to keep my bg numbers as close to normal as possible.  Research and new drugs are nice and may offer help to some in the future but the cause is high blood sugar.
