140 this morning.  We had stir fry last night with a mix of vegetables and chicken, beef and shrimp and I thought I would be fine but maybe the teriyaki sauce was my downfall.  Well, it sure was good though !

Yeah Tamagno, it does take some maneuvering to get around while healing and sometimes it can be a challenge.

Grammabear, everyone is different but I think a type 2 has an easier time managing their bg.  A type 1 is depending on the injection of insulin and the dose to manage it but with a type 2 we can deal with a more consistent delivery of insulin that we can control by what we eat.  Some type 2 people can handle more carbs than others but the eat to your meter works for most.

Wally, how long does it take you to recover from this high ? It could take me 4-7 days getting back to my normals. It would be interesting to note the Libre data for that high.

94 this morning.

A huge thunderstorm here last night that'll produce steamy heat here today.

Grammabear, I've read about the G6 features you mention and will see about stepping up. By odd circumstance every time my G5 warranty is over, I'm at the beginning of my insurance deductible period and it's just too expensive. However, in light of the hypo being the cause of last weeks' mishap, I need to rethink it.

Yesterday we had a perfect Summer day with temperatures about 84 deg F and a humidity of around 45%.  Today is supposed to be the same - we shall see.

Tamagno - It is my understanding that Dexcom is going to cease production of the G5 by this years end.  I don't know if this influences your decision to switch systems, but you could do a Google search to either confirm or deny the continuation of the G5.

91 this morning.  We had a high of 107° yesterday and probably the same today.

SKB, I usually return to a more normal place in 24 hours.  I don't seem to carry on for too long after I am higher than usual.  I probably have plenty of glucose stored in my liver though as I do see a real effect of DP in the morning.  The Libre is interesting because it shows you a graph of your bg connecting the dots of each test.

79° was the high again yesterday, today's forecast is 87°/55°.

I take it you are liking the Libre Wally? Are you going to keep it as your primary meter?

I do like it and it has shown me more about how my bg runs throughout the day.  I like the fact that there are no finger sticks and you can test as often as you like without worrying about test strips.  My first order was for 7 units that are good for 14 days each so I will be using these until about October 1st so I will decide then if I want to continue.

Awesome, looking forward to your reports on how this works. Do you think the cost is worth it?

Wally do you take readings every 15 minutes ? I'm keen to know what were the readings before / after your 140 wrt Time.

@tamagno, how are you feeling now ?

150 this morning.

The Libre is interesting - I wonder how soon something like that will show up as a smart watch feature.

Today begins the endless after care visits - three today with VNA nurses coming at 9, 10:30 and 1. The second one I've met and describes herself as a "diabetes educator." Should be interesting.

Tomorrow I'll have to be traveling to a doctor so getting in my wife's car will be an adventure in its own right - another 4-5 more doctor visits yet this week...

Felt worse yesterday mostly on account of bad edema in my feet and legs causing considerable pain, but I'm hopeful that once catheter is out, etc. things will get much better.

110 this morning.

When it comes to knowing your blood sugar reading, how do we determine how accurate any of our meters, the Libre or the Dexcom systems are?  I have had Dexcom for 12 years and I have seen the development of each successive generation.  Each one is more accurate than its predecessor.  And yet the latest one can be spot on OR 30 points or more off.

Good Luck Tamagno with your medical visits.  It might not be too bad.

@tamagno, how are you feeling now ?

No I am not testing that often, usually at 1/2 hour or hour intervals when I want to follow something.  actually the 140 was starting down.  At 5:30 AM I was 166, 7 AM 140, 7:30 135, 8:30 135, 9:30 127, 11:00 101, 11:30 88, 12:00 77.  So it came down  fairly steady.

81 this morning.  Temp yesterday the same as the day before and the same predicted for today. It is supposed to start cooling down tomorrow a bit but it will be windy.
Grammabear, I don't really know the answer but the Libre is supposed to be accurate but it is consistently lower than my Contour Next meter, sometimes by as much as 20 mg/dl so which one is right ?  The fact that they advise you to not make any correction without checking with a finger stick makes me thing the Contour is probably more accurate.  If it had an alarm it would be going off at night because it shows readings around 60-65 and when I have checked with the Contour it would be 70-75.  The thing I like is that it gives me a picture of how my bg is doing throughout the day and night and gives me a better understanding of  how what I am eating is affecting me.
