85 this morning.  A cooler day yesterday with a high of 97° but it is going to go up a bit starting today and probably be around 105° for a few days.

Quote from: Grammabear on August 08, 2020, 10:09:13 AMMy condolences to the families of the victims of the Air crash in India.  Such a tragedy.

Yes tragic indeed. First reports indicate that the runway is lengthy enough to handle the 737 but he probably touched down quite a distance off and then the torrential rain could have caused hydroplaning.

138 this morning.

It's my understanding that interstitial readings are habitually about 15 minutes behind finger sticks. Bear in mind that even finger sticks are as much as 20% off.

I hate hearing of these plane crashes; it's horrifying all the way around.

While I am of the mind that flying generally is safe, I haven't flown at all since the mid-90s, well before it got really difficult. I used to fly a great deal for business, but just got tired of the myriad hassles involved. In more recent years, I'm glad it's no longer necessary.

95 this morning.

Weather at our place will be 89 deg F and a fair amount of humidity at 55%.  We ran the A/C yesterday and today.

I haven't flown since the early 70's and I honestly do not miss it.  It is always sad to hear about a plane crash.

84 this morning.  We kept under 100° for a high yesterday at 99° !  It is supposed to get a bit warmer today and be around 105° for the next few days.
I haven't flown for a long time but I am not too worried about being in a plane crash but right now I would not want to fly because of the virus.  I had been thinking of flying up to my brothers who lives in Washington state but I'm holding off on that for a while.
Yeah Tamagno, that is what the Libre information says.  Interstitial readings  are about 10-15 min. behind finger sticks as glucose gets to the blood first.

79° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 82°/46°. Another nice day.

I normally fly once a year to visit family in CA, last year I flew twice. I cancelled this year's trip due to the virus and don't know when I will feel comfortable flying again. And not to mention the high rate of the virus in CA. My kids are in the Bay Area.

113 today.

Talking of flights. I had booked a flight to Nagpur (central India) for the last week of March. That got shifted to end July because the lockdown was enforced and we thought that it would last for a month or two max. I played with the idea of extending the tickets to end of October or November but finally decided that travel was not on the near future horizon. Will see how things go, then decide. I think flights are quite safe. If you look at flightradar24.com and see the number of flights operating at any given moment (even in the covid) you'll quite agree.

I guess  maybe I will have to agree to disagree. I can't see how being in that close contact to so many people for a prolonged time can be safe. I was appalled when years ago I flew into India and the entire airline compartment was sprayed with some sort of disinfectant before landing. No thank you, if that what it takes, I'd rather not fly...

I meant flights are safe from the point of view of probability of crashes and accidents, not covid. This was wrt what John posted.

Tamagno

65 this morning.

Wally, I think the most fun way of getting up to Washington state would be to rent a Corvette convertible and take the drive up the coast highway (pricey I'm sure, but still it'd be swell).

Looks to be clear and hot here today. Still thousands without power or internet here. One couple we know has rented a hotel room so they have a place they can work from. Seems to be taking an unusually long time for utilities and road crews to get this cleared up this time. Usually they'd have it all done by now.

105 this morning.  I had some rice with dinner and it kind of stuck with me.  We hit 103°  yesterday and it should be around there for the next few days.
I do agree SKB that flying is quite safe as far as being involved in a crash.  The reason it seems scary is that when there is a crash the number of people involved is large and it makes big headlines.  There are many more people killed by being involved in car crashes.  The big worry right now is the virus.

Actually Tamagno I have considered renting a car, probably not a Corvette  `8) , but a new car and driving and that may be what I do.
