74 this morning.  Weather here is mild for January getting to around 60°for a high and lows around 34°.  Looks like that will be the norm for the rest of the week and then cool down a bit next week.

118 this cloudy morning. Another very light dusting of new snow this morning. It is quickly melting away.

37° was yesterday's high. The forecast for today is 44° for a high...I have my doubts it will get that high, but it would be OK on the other hand. Overnight prediction 30°. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow.

115 this morning.

Spent much of yesterday cleaning up/fixing the various things I'd managed to do the day before; thankfully not as troublesome as I'd feared.

It'll be warmish here this afternoon with lots of rain. Good thing as we're back to cold tomorrow.

I'm making a pate of various organ meats. They've been through two days of various marinades and will be ready to cook today. I'll use it for snacking so I'm hoping it comes out good.

During the holiday season, it seems hard to remember what day it is or which end is up.  Diabetes control seems to get turned upside down too.  Got to sort all this out.

79 this morning.  It looks like the weather will be pretty stable for the next few days.  Mild with no rain in sight.
Got an Instant Pot for Christmas so trying out different things.  I did Corned Beef and Cabbage one day and yesterday I did a Chuck Roast and made shredded beef.  One hour in the IP and the beef just fell apart.  There is a learning curve because the times given in recipes are approximate.  I did boiled eggs and they came out good but next time I will do them for one minute more.  I don't think I would have bought one but I am having fun with it.

Snap Grammabear, 112 here too this rainy morning.

46° was the high yesterday. It has been raining on and off all morning, may even be a bit of snow. Forecast is for a high of 40° today and low overnight of 24°. It is windy too and that part, I don't like much.

Wally, I bought an InstantPot a couple of months ago and tried it once as a slow cooker, but it was a failure. I couldn't figure out how to set the temp. I then discovered, I am afraid of the pressure cooker function...irrational I know, but I haven't used one in 45 years... I'm hoping to overcome my fear and learn to use it.

Wally, it seems I see so many recipes that use either instant pots or slow cookers. Either takes some getting used to, I expect. Instant pot's a far cry from my mother's pressure cooker, for sure.

Grammabear, you have family to contend with during holidays, so it's no surprise your schedule, eating and diabetes get out of whack. I, for one, take some advantage of being old and infirm to insist on maintaining diet and schedule - a state of affairs likely impossible with grandchildren around.

My offal pate has turned out good; I think it's marinades work to its advantage. Containing as it does venison liver, calve's liver and venison heart, it's not for everyone and I'll be giving a fair bit away. Goes great with my homemade Parmesan, sesame crackers.

Tamagno - 'homemade Parmesan sesame crackers'~ Wow, that sounds real yummy.  My husband said that when his Mother raised chickens, she would use all parts of the chicken for food consumption.  I am sure she would have loved your homemade pate.

Anyone bothered with especially dry scalp this year?  I got some Neutrogena Tsal shampoo thinking it would help the itching, but so far it has not.

87 this morning.  I generally use the Weather Channel website for my weather forecast as it seems to be the closest for here.  Today the forecast is for partly cloudy with winds around 5-10 MPH.  Above that is a banner saying "Wind Advisory" winds from 30-40 MPH with gusts of 55 MPH.  All on the same page so what is someone supposed to believe ?   ???
Barbara, on my Instant Pot the only temperature setting is the High and Low pressure setting and the temperature is set accordingly.  There are safety features built in that were not available on the old style pressure cookers that you put on a stove.  These are quite safe as long as you follow the instructions and keep clean and be careful when releasing the pressure.  It will do anything a slow cooker will do only much faster.

106 this mostly cloudy morning.

39° was the high yesterday. Forecast high is 36° the low overnight 28° with a small chance of snow. Snow in the forecast for Monday, not Tuesday but then the rest of next week as far as the forecast goes.  :(  Wally, The Weather Channel app is the closest to my area also.

I guess I just need to get brave and try the InstantPot.

Grammabear, I recall as a kid liking chicken gizzards and livers that my mom and grandmas used in the gravy. Interestingly, I only lately found out that the deep flavor of traditional chicken pate comes from it's rendered fat which is called "schmaltz" (curiously, a term used by musicians to describe overly emotional/corny musical interpretations). The low-fat fad that has encouraged use of boneless, skinless chicken breasts has also skipped over the bits of chicken with the richest flavors.

My best weather app predicts temperatures ranging from 12 to 62 this week. Heavens!

Tamagno - my MIL also made tasty offerings from the gizzards and the liver of the chicken.  In particular her chicken soup with homemade noodles was awesome.

This morning's sunrise was spectacular and with a temperature of 25 deg F, it was definitely crisp outside.

91 this morning.  We never did get the high winds here but a lot of Southern California was getting blasted with high winds and they continue today.  Here it is sunny and calm.  Still, I long for longer days and warmer temps but Spring will get here before too long.
Barbara, if you do get the Instant Pot out and give it a try I think you will like it.

110 this cloudy morning. Light snow overnight and chance of more today.

38° was the high yesterday. 39° is the predicted high for today with overnight of 34°. Snow still in the forecast for most of the week. Guess I'd better get out now and get my errands done today.

My mom used to make a dish with chicken livers and gizzards and onions and brown gravy served over rice. I used to love it...hmmm maybe I need to make some!

You know, Grammabear, I had one grandmother who also made exceptional chicken and noodles with homemade noodles that were especially thick and toothsome. If I thought I'd eat them, I'd try it myself.

Weather here is coldish, overcast and rainy today. Not the best for going out, but I'm getting cabin fever...
