Quote from: Tamagno on October 27, 2020, 07:24:10 AMI did get my Amazon shopping cart reassigned to the Shopping List section; hope it helps, SKB. A few items I'm waiting for sale prices which will be over the next couple of weeks.

Yes, I think the Shopping List or 'Save for Later' works fine, not the Shopping Cart.

85 this morning.

Prayers answered regarding my sister-in law's new house in Colorado that they had recently to evacuate on account of wild fires there; they've had enough snow to extinguish at least the fires threatening their house allowing them to return home.

My visit with my oncologist yesterday was a mixed bag in terms of CAT scan results. There's a new spot on my liver and my lungs continue to fill with fluids inadvertently mis-swallowed which gets consistently worse and has now coalesced in a couple of spots giving the appearance of pneumonia. The oncologist is exorcised over the lung thing, but thus far has no solutions. In reading the radiologists report, however, I note that I've insufficient body fat for the scan to read clearly a number of areas.

My own reading of all of it is that with the exception of fatigue I don't feel in any way sick or in pain sufficiently to be alarmed so I'm going with that.

I hit bottom last night around 7:30 p.m. while watching television.  My Dexcom alarmed that I was going down in blood sugar numbers and I did.  I chowed down on glucose tablets, which are not tasty and I also had a cup of apple juice.  It took forever to return to a respectable level, and then it is up again this morning.  Aargh.....

My hearing aid also broke, so now my world is mostly silent.  The audiologist has thus far ignored my patient portal message, so I don't know when I can leave the hearing aids with her to be repaired.

On the bright side, the weather is sunny and 30 deg here, so all in all a nice day to enjoy pleasant weather.

73 this morning.  We were a bit higher yesterday with a high of 73° and it is supposed to get to 80° today and be in the mid 80s for the next few days.  Pretty nice for Fall weather.
Tamagno, glad to hear your  SIL was spared by the fire.  Colorado has had a very time also with huge wildfires. Like California drought and the pesky bark beetle have killed so many trees in the forest it is really dangerous.

100 this cloudy morning.

39° was the high yesterday, some melting of the snow which is a good thing. Today's forecast is 46°/30°.

Sometimes I get so angry with my neighbor...yesterday his annoying dog treed one of my feral kitties way up in one of my cottonwood trees. That dog runs loose all over the lane. Usually it just chases the birds away. It was Other Kitty, I was so worried it was Meow Kitty with his arthritic legs I didn't know how I would get him down. It took a couple hours before the kitty shimmied backwards down out of the tree actually pretty amazing to watch... I gave it a big helping of wet food for a reward.

I agree Tamagno, I've had those conversations with doctors too. Tests show something is "wrong" but they can't pinpoint it or have no explanation why I am not suffering from their dx... I don't feel pain/sick/weak so I just let it go ...

We have 2 dogs and that happens all the time in our house. There are a few stray cats that the dogs love to chase and run up trees.

85 this morning.

I'm reminded of an adventure we had when we first moved up here and were living in a little rented house. The very first night, there were several big dogs (dobermans, blood hounds and the like) who for hours raced around our house barking and would not even let us get out of the house. We were able to trace the owner who offered the somewhat drunken advice "ah, h-ll, if they bother you, just shoot 'em." This was a very rural area with many old-timer eccentrics in residence and turned out to be only the first of many similar incidents.

Grammabear, I doubt your hearing specialist is reading e-mail all that often. In that case, I'd be calling the practice which might get better results.

Cold weather headed here with temperatures dropping below 30 tonight. It's that time of year, sadly.

I am not able to use the phone, hear the television or have a conversation with my husband without a hearing aid, so for all practical purposes I am deaf.  My hearing loss is severe, made so by a mastoid surgery when I was 17 years old.  I have the minimum of hearing in the remaining ear due to a congenital deformity.  I don't fit into the hearing world nor do I belong to the Deaf Community.  I just get by when my hearing aid is working.  We all have issues and this is mine.  I am looking into getting a tablet I can carry with me to help communication when I leave the house for a medical appointment.

Today is 32 deg F and very cloudy.  It looks like the white stuff is just "hanging" in the air.

84 this morning.  We had a high of 80° yesterday and it looks like that will be the normal for at least a week.  Not typical Fall weather but nice.
Grammabear, that is a difficult situation.  I am fortunate that my doctor is really good at returning an answer to my messages, usually the same day.  I think that a lot of the time doctors just don't understand that communication is really important.

43° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 54°/27°. The piles of snow are slowly meting away. I could probably even drive out now, if I wasn't too afraid to what with the surge of the virus recently here. Yesterday we had 28 new cases in my small county, statewide there were 891 new cases yesterday. The cold weather has done nothing to slow the cases here sadly.

Grammabear, I am so sorry you are in that situation. Shame on your dr for not getting back to you in a timely manner!

51 this morning.

Grammabear, I wonder if there are now hearing aids that communicate with your phone or tablet to convert speech to text and vice versa. While your frustration is understandable and deplorable behavior on the part of the audiologist, I suspect there are many long-married couples who might find silence very appreciated...

SKB, the dogs belonged to one of the ex-wives of a very well known beer heir who lived over a hill from us. I came home one evening to find the ex-wife and my wife fairly deep in their cups with the dog owner wife describing how she had her gynecological troubles treated by her veterinarian in graphic detail. The dogs subsequently disappeared (without my intervention). That problem solved, however, we were soon to encounter the farming family of a noted football star who were similarly eccentric and became the subject of other adventures.

I should perhaps add that our arrival in that town was the subject of a great deal of hoopla in the press as I was at the time pretty famous in the world of opera. The locals found it hugely entertaining that such a "star" was living among them and was accessible by simply knocking on the door - many did.

Tamagno - I do not know if such a hearing aid as you describe exists.  I do know that the one I have is a digital aid that co-exists with my computer, my phone and the television.  I wear a 'dongle' on a lanyard around my neck when I want to listen to music on my phone and not annoy anyone else in the house.  I currently struggle to maintain a semblence of normalcy and still be able to communicate with the outside world.

The stories you all share are most interesting.  We once had someone drop off a dog, as we live in a rural area, and that dog wandered to our door looking for its owner.  So sad to absolutely abandon it in that manner.
