93 this morning.

I would love to have a grill that didn't require a bag of charcoal plus lighter fluid.  We don't grill out often just because it becomes a "chore" for two people.  We do enjoy the taste of grilled food including vegetables, just don't like the process.

102 this morning.  We got to 104°  yesterday as expected and it should be the same again today.
Yeah Tamagno, that was exactly what I had was the ribs and some coleslaw.  Really a good meal.
Grammabear, that is one of the things really nice about the Traeger.  You fill the hopper with wood pellets and it does most everything itself.  You don't even have to light it.  It feeds enough pellets in to start and has an electric igniter that gets it going.  It maintains the temperature by how many pellets it adds and with a fan to circulate the air.  Pretty neat and easy.

Wally - Is this type of grill available in most parts of the country or just in your area?  Also, how much storage space would it occupy during our winter season?

111 this cloudy morning.

79° was the high yesterday, today's forecast is 71°/48°.

That is a great story Tamagno, something I would expect of a young boy...not so much a 71 year old lady... lol I'd be shredded and have to go to the dr which would be just as dangerous as the cat clawing. Our virus numbers have skyrocket and I am hunkering down at home as much as possible.

Kitty cleaned up his breakfast this morning so I think he is getting back to normal.

We got ours at Home Depot but they are also available at other dealers.  The size depends on which one you are looking at.  You can get all of the info at their website :

119 today morning.

I got this as a rebound to the 71 that I clocked yesterday evening. Truth be told, I was expecting something like this but not a 48 point jump.

One of our Cocunut trees came crashing down in the fierce gusty winds last evening. It had a hollowed out trunk and was bound to happen someday. Thankfully there was no damage except a part of another tree took most of the brunt and also lost a branch.

Oh my, do you get natural coconuts from your trees? I forget you are in a tropical climate. Do you harvest the coconuts?

Yes we do, but now it is far to expensive to get the people to take them off so we allow the coconuts to ripen and fall and use the dried coconut from that.

I am totally ignorant re coconuts. When they fall from the trees do they still have the water inside at that time? Can you capture it? Or when they fall are they already dry or do you have to open them and let them dry? This is fascinating to me.

High this morning.

SKB, I was just wondering if downed coconut trees can be cut up and used for cooking fires, etc. I doubt you all have much use for the wood for heat, but don't know if it's useful for other things in modern India.

Grammabear, my wife and I have the same grilling problem as it's too much to get the grill going to prepare single meals for two. Over time, I've devised a few different schemes for reheating things that work pretty well, but admittedly are never quite as good as hot off the grill. For example, burgers and most meats reheat on stovetop very well in a frying pan with some butter and covered, only a couple of minutes to a side until they reach an internal temperature of 100 degrees. That way, they retain moisture and don't get dried out.

The coconut becomes green and ripe on the trees. At that point it is tender has the coconut water and some creamier layers inside the tough interior. Once it is matured it dries up and is a darker shade of brown. That's when they fall to the ground and are devoid of any liquids within but the cream is now a hardened kernel. I don't know the proper term for it. Coconut milk and coconut oil is made from crushing these kernels.

The wood could be used I guess though it's not the rapidly burning timber variety, because it's very fibrous. To have it removed I will have to get it chopped into smaller pieces but all that can be done when the rains have gone and the tree trunk has dried up. For now we'll just get rid of the leaves. Incidentally coconut coir is used extensively for ropes and floor mats and the leaves can be sliced vertically and made into brooms. Still used in India.

103 this morning.

Tamagno - Thank You for the tips on reheating grilled foods.  I will try that next time we do grill out.

Skb - It is fascinating to learn about coconuts.  I love them and never knew how they grew nor how they are harvested.  Do they ever fall from the tree and damage your car or your home?

106 this morning.  I'm here !  I had an early appointment with my PCP and then my internet has been terrible this morning, dropping out often and connecting back after a few min. over and over.  My doctor is suggesting that I may like a Freestyle Libre but I don't know if it would be covered by Medicare so I'll check if I can. I like the idea.

Glad you are OK Wally. Wow, you have a great pcp! Mine doesn't even agree I am diabetic, says I'm cured...he'd never recommend anything like yours did.
